WOW!!!! Texas Longhorns ahead of Kentucky in basketball. I never thought I would ever see the day. Oh no. Was this a football poll? If so, do not wake me up.

1. Kentucky (gonna pretend for a minute everything is the way it should be and everyone is in line...if so UK is deepest and most talent and there is no match)
2. Arizona (would be 1 if I didnt have faith UK would not have problems next season)
3. Kansas (probably will flounder again, but I think losing Gooden and Boschee was too much)
4. Alabama (losing Grizzard might hurt, but they were a very good team)
5. Georgia (if Harrick is back, I see this team very good. They are a little underrated and underestimated on how good they are.)

Can't see UK preseason top 5,, with 1 double figure scorer returning, the loss of a two time AA, no proven go to guy, very questionable outside shooting, and so far less than cerebral play on the floor. If we're extremely lucky we may be there at the end of the year but I don't look for a great start for this team. Arizona, Kansas, and Texas all will have proven returning talent. Duke will have lots of talent but it will be young, it should be interesting to see how far they fall.

I agree with that assessment. Looking at past achievements makes this team look very weak and not worthy of a top 5 ranking. Based on potential we are by far top tier, but by previous play we aren't. Picking which idea we follow is difficult, but I am optimistic that Tubby is making the necessary and RIGHT changes to change the team. The fundamentals of the style of play are not too bad, but its the heart that will win the Championship. I'd love to have a conditioned team that loved to be in transition and very fast paced, but I want to see a team that loves to play and gives it their all every game and loves wearing that UK uniform. Seeing our roster next season and the comments surrounding it is the reason I put them in top 5. Walking and Talking are two different things, but this team has a lot to prove. They will have heart.

Well, be that as it may. Kentucky will indeed be top 5 pre-season next year. Too much talent to hold us out. Disagree if you will, but that will be the case. I don't expect my pre-season top 5 to match anyone's in particular, but this is how I see it for next year...
1. Arizona 2. Kentucky 3. Kansas 4. Oklahoma 5. Florida

BBJ - Great to see you here! Always nice to see an old friend! My top 5 (in no particular order) would include: Texas Arizona Florida Oklahoma Kentucky I think Kansas will have a tough time overcoming the departure of Gooden and Boschee. I think dUKe will be a bit too young and will need the season to come together. I feel very strongly that Tubby made some very wise and very strategic moves since the season ended that will go a long way toward restoring team chemistry. I think that aspect of a team's performance is highly underrated. If the players don't like one another or don't bond (as we witnessed last season : , they just won't get it done on the court consistently. Bringing on board some very team-oriented players (who ain't bad talent-wise, either!) with good work ethics will bode well for the Cats this season.
