You know something, this is truly pathetic! TELL ME ONE COLLEGE THAT HAS LOST A RECRUIT B/C A FAN GOT HIS SON AN AUTOGRAPH FOR HIM!!!!!!!! Sandi, I appreciate your concern and I know it's your job, but are you kiddin' me? If I get to see Rondo play, I will get an autograph. This sickens me and I know that I'm going to receive hate posts from other members, so I'm leaving this message board. It's been nice fella's and gals, but I'm not going to be told that I can't get an autograph from anyone! You guys know the reason why you've never heard of this? It's b/c Rondo won't be barred from coming to UK for giving an autograph. And no one else has for that matter. It's been a real joy for me to post with you guys and share knowledge and opinions, but I must leave. Spam, thank you so much for the Big Blue Madness tickets you gave me. I really appreciate it and won't forget it bro'. God bless, I'm out. Tubby, Leaving this board won't change the NCAA rules. If you decide only to post on another board the rules will still be the rules. No one on this board is telling you that you can't get an autograph. All I hear is people asking that we all use caution, and abide by the rules. I hat to see you leave, but good luck.

I don't give a "hoot" about "other schools" recruits If this is the rule - then this is the rule! Like it or not At least Wildcat Maniacs had the "real deal" telling "us" the specifics - instead of the "rumor mills" circulated on other message boards!!!! BIGBLUE and 4The Luv - it's NOT this board saying anything to you - it is UK!!!!!! But - if you must - see ya!!!

SK........ Rule or not it must not be enforced. I did not and do not take anything personal from anything said on this board. I was simply stating to SANDY BELL and whoever else involved that I am a hard working AMERICAN and I will do as I please when it concerns this situation. I feel no need to repent of this matter and IF I had the chance I would do the same thing next time. I look at my son and seeing his smile as we were talking to him and seeing his excitment so from my perspective the NCAA can have thier rule but I wont take joy away from myself or my children. In a 100 years from now this whole conversation will mean nothing at all and as I am in eternity the thought of NCAA rules or COLLEGE basketball will not mean a thing to me at all. I am not being rude but this whole BOOSTER thing is silly.

I don't like people leaving the board over this but if that's the case, I wish you all the best. Really. Back to the issue at hand. At this time, these 'standards' are set by the NCAA and the University of Kentucky MUST abide by these sanctions. Below is a Booster Advisory Letter taken from the ncaa.org site. It reads as follows: Division IDear Supporter: Inasmuch as the (Institution's) responsibility for the conduct of its athletics programs includes the regulations for the actions of all individuals and organizations engaged in activities promoting the athletics interest of the institution, we write you today seeking your help. As an institution committed to a competitive athletics program designed to be a vital part of the educational system, we recognize the perils brought about by overzealous and misguided boosters. Please note that NCAA Bylaw 13.01.5.1 prohibits you as a representative of this institution's athletics interests from making in-person, on- or off-campus recruiting contacts, or written or telephonic communications with a prospect or the prospect's relatives or legal guardians. Any violation of this rule (or rules against providing transportation, entertainment, meals or anything else of material value to enrolled student-athletes or their family members), regardless of your intentions, may affect the continued eligibility of the young man or woman and may result in our athletics program being penalized by the NCAA. We respectfully request that you please DO NOT make any recruiting contact with prospective student-athletes at any time. If you know of an athletics prospect, please inform the appropriate head coach, and let the coach be responsible for any contact with the prospect. We have also enclosed a booster educational sheet for your review. Should you have any questions about what you, as a supporter, may and maynot do, please contact the athletics department. Don't be afraid to ask! We want and need your support, but we also need your cooperation to ensure full compliance with NCAA rules. Thank you for your assistance in this regard. Sincerely, _____________________________________ Institution's Chief Executive Officer _____________________________________ Director of Athletics

I can honestly see how people could use a opportunity to mislead recruits, but the way I see it, The NCAA knows who is and who is not taking advantage of this. They are more than welcome to come to me. Maybe Sandy will have Tubby contact me and he and I can talk this thing out..haha

"RECRUITING CONTACT" That leaves most of us out...... I am not a recruiter just a fan... I think it is taken out of context

Tubby, Leaving this board won't change the NCAA rules. If you decide only to post on another board the rules will still be the rules. Also, this information is being sent to the other boards as well and a few are having similar converstations as we speak. Get the word out!

I think that we have worn this topic out.
Why don't those of you that so vehemently disagree with the NCAA rule, just go ahead Friday and Saturday and while you make contact at the Oak Hill Game, take pictures and send them to the NCAA just to be spitful.
I thought that we wanted Tubby to get better recruits - now lets go ahead and jeopardize them coming to Kentucky. By gosh it is our right as Free Americans!!

I said - "I don't give a "hoot" about other schools recruits." ME!!!! I know that kids - (and when my son was young - we got autographs) - want autographs!!!! It is very unfair - I agree!! And - yes - what a court case - a 10 year old crying to the Judge because he was not allowed to get a autograph by the "NCAA Autograph Enforcement Police." Yes- I know - this is not funny - but - it is ABSURD And - as stated earlier - a rule - is a RULE

Ok, a few questions then about the recruit stuff....
What about people a player goes to school with, or may have regular contact with...maybe someone he isn't friends with. If they are UK fans and they start talking to him about UK basketball, then are they violating something? OR what about his best friend? Sorry, this is just one of the dumbest things I have heard.
Couldn't I just start talking to Louisville recruits and act like a big UL supporter...then get them in trouble? Am I gonna get arrested for that? What are they gonna do, go to my house and see if I have a bunch of UL or UK stuff to decide whether I really am a UL "Booster" according to the definition.

When they become UK players, you can get your autographs and have your conversations. There is where she said that you cannot get an autograph legally. Now come on. Listen to that sentence.......... That is a definate mis-interpretation of the rules. I read the rules that were posted, and it doesn't say anything fo the sort! Guys, I just don't know if you'll have even thought about what's been posted on this thread. And will someone PLEASE answer my question? When has a school EVER been put under investigation or been put on probation for a fan getting an autograph for his son and/or himself, took a picture with him, and/or had a conversation with him? And don't think I'm being a smart mouth, b/c if someone has, then I'll gladly tape my mouth shut. But everyone has evaded my question. Many of you all think that I disagree with the rules, but that's not the case at all. Though I do not agree with many NCAA rules, but that's not the point. I don't want to leave this message board, but I feel very strongly that some of you are completely off about this rule. I have talked to many people today about this topic, and I've let them read this thread. And not one single person believes that the rules posted include what my friend Bigblueguru did. Especially the autograph. Oh my goodness, I can't believe that some of you all even say that that is a violation! Someone please address this post, besides golfnsr. He is not in position to inform me of anything after the smart mouth posts he made directed toward me and Bigblueguru.
