Hey, do you guys remember how in every single game we’ve played this season our offense has been the worst one on the field? That may not be the case this Saturday! Now let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Obviously Ole Miss is still ahead of us statistically speaking. They have 1287 passing yards and 982 rushing yards on the season for a grand total of 2269 yards, or the equivalent of one quarter with Case Keenum. If those numbers were any less impressive, the Ole Miss admissions office would offer them in-state tuition, but UK is worse. UK has 1008 passing yards and 1118 rushing yards on the season for a grand total of 2126 yards. On the negative side of things, we still trail the Rebels, however we finally have a reason to #RISE!
That’s right. This is Kentucky’s super bowl. If we can beat Ole Miss and outgain them by at least 144 yards, then for at least a week, we will not be the worst team in the SEC. This is totally doable, too. The Rebels’ rushing offense has been atrocious and if there’s any slight positive to this team, it’s that our defense has some capable players on it. Danny Trevathan and Winston Guy will be called upon to deliver punishment to Ole Miss. If they can score a touchdown like they did against Jacksonville State, that wouldn’t hurt either. Having Maxwell Smith start the game will probably make for a more comfortable performance than we’ve seen out of him when he’s been cast into the fire in the midst of a blow out, but I don’t know how much can realistically be expected. This game is all about the defense and it’s even more enticing because the Rebel offense is one crappy enough to be exploited.
There’s not much going for this team anymore. This is our shot to beat Ole Miss and emerge triumphantly from the sewer of the SEC. Say hi to the pretty Oxford girls for me
