Well, if it makes you feel better, I agree with two out of the three KY Kids. One of them, I am not quite so sure about. But two out of three is not bad.

LOL recruiting seems to be alot like Tubby coaching offense. He talks a great game but has yet to show us one. Just like he talks recruiting a point guard but he has yet to bring us one.
These kids today know about what is going on at the schools they visit. I would bet they know about Brian and not because of his impressive noninvitation to the 5 Star camp. And they don't know of the saul impact on the program I am sure other coaches remind them of it.
IE
Coach "Hey kid you want to play point guard for my school?"
Kid "I am considering going to ky"
Coach "You must not know that Tubbys son is a point guard and we both know he will be starting there the next 4 yrs."
How do you think we had 2 years to recruit a point guard with a 4 NCAA finals games? Because even the TLA know that saul was not a top 500 recruit.

After a near loss a couple of weeks ago against AIA and a loss against the Nike guys, (a team beaten by 30 points at Dayton) it looks like we're facing another 10 loss season. If so, it would be four in a row..........Never been done at UK EVER!!!! Does anyone really need to say anymore?
Suspended players, fights on airplanes, tatoo laden backtalking punk recruits, a general lack of any sort of team work ethic or conditioning program.........(just look at Marvin Stone's physique when he comes to town/look at any game tape from the past couple of years and try to find two halves of hustle)
Placing more importance on keepin' it real than keepin' it winnin'........keepin it real w/ the family (Saul Smith saga, and maybe the new Lex Catholic kid) keeping it real with the black coaches of america tourney last year at Rupp, keepin it real by recruitin certain kids that other schools looked over for obvious reasons (rashaad, to name one)
Guys, this is sick. We need a new coach. I hope that Barnhart gets a grip and moves toward finding someone who is either more capable and/or more willing to carry on the tradition that other, better coaches have started and continued to uphold. Adolph Rupp, Joe B, and even Rick (yes even Rick) are some great examples. If not, we may end up like some other basketball schools...A good season every now and then.
UK should want to be better than everyone else, all the time. If Duke can do it, why can't UK? Good coaching and team leadership are essential.
We have an unparalleled tradition, moreso than anyone else in the country. If we are willing to settle for less, you can bet that is what we will get.

First off, I'd like to officially welcome UKclassof'96. :giddy: You make some extremely valid points and you also articulate them very well. Very good first post. I do admit that this is a make-or-break year for obvious reasons. There aren't too many fans happy with the product on display. Thus far this year we haven't proven that this will be the turnaround. If fact it looks worse than previous years. I'll reserve judgement until at least we're half-way through the SEC portion of the schedule. That should be ample time for the team to understand their roles and also to understand the new offensive philosophy. Keepin the faith til then and PLEASE GOD let us have a good Maui showing.

Why debate the obvious? UK is TOO BIG FOR Tubby just like it was for SUTTON. It is just that Tubby has run a clean program while Sutton could not get out of the bottle

one of the biggest things, to me any way , is the way orlando gets players and sits them on the bench you know good players want to play and they understand they have to wait there turn to play IF the team is winning why sit good players on the bench when the team is losing so much i think thats the main reason carruth left if the team had been winning and he was sitting he would have understood but why sit him down when the team was losing 10 game for the 3rd year in a row which has never happend at UK before

Carruth was sitting because of his attitude and his oh-so-mature "shooting strike" he displayed in a game when he WAS given the opportunity to prove what he could do. The fact that Carruth couldn't even last at Oklahoma long enough to make it to Midnight Madness should prove to most people that his problem was HIMSELF. Placing the blame on Tubby for Carruth's inability to be a TEAM player is ridiculous. Tubby certainly has faults and has certainly made his share of mistakes, but getting rid of Carruth was a HUGE positive.

Totally agree that Tubby was smart to get rid of Caruuth (however you spell his name)
BUT................He did recruit the kid knowing he had a reputation. I view that as a failure on Tubby's part.
The fact is that he finally got a clue and canned him. Most schools passed on recruiting him becuase they could foresee the backtalkin' punk butt attitude and the resulting negative impact on the entire team, season, and, in UK's case, the entire state of KY a mile away.

Some kids have a tendency to 'grow up' during the college years while others are still down with the 'me' generation.
Cannot tell the future. Carruth was a pure shooter. Great range and stroke. Not a bad gamble but it just didn't pay off. It happens sometimes.
What did we need? Accurate shooters and we recruited one of the best in the class.
Didn't work this time.
Me me me.
Gone gone gone

TLT has lied ever since he arrived in Lexington. 1. I'm going to tweek the system.(He ruined it) 2. Saul. 3. Has no clue what UK basketball means to the fans. 4. Can't recruit worth a do do 5.Not my fault Time for TLT to take his circus elsewhere. 6. Brian could be our next PG. (We can't stand another Smith ruining the PG spot) 7. I hate what he has done to the greatest BB program of all time. 8. Tired of his excuses and the TLT supporters excuses 9. Tired of the supporters saying if you don't like TLT you must be racist(makes me SICK) Being somewhat new to this board I decided to look at some of the things being said prior to me coming on board. This thread is hillarious. Some of the same folks that were ready to tar and feather Tubby in 2002 love him today. Go back and take a look at some of these posts. Not much of this stuff is being said today. It just goes to show how fickle we are. When things start going our way we see things is a much different light. Two weeks ago there were some on this board that were saying Tubby is the worst recruiter in the nation, and those critics are silent today, and indeed some have come out as Tubby supporters. God love this country! www.spams-ukwildcatbasketball.com/bobcat1_1a.gif [/img] jd_ram@comcast.net
