In the next 30 days we play UNC, IU, UL and Kansas. We should get a good insight into how good a coach Tubby is. There is no reason for us to lose to NC in that they lost their top 7 players. There is no reason to lose to Kansas a team that is 2 and 3. There is no reason that we should lose to IU we have owned them in the Mike Davis era. We haven't done that good against tricky Rick. Lets just see how good a coach Tubby is. Wins or Losses should tell the story. Bailey

I don't really understand this question. Tubby has been here 8 years. I would think by now, all of us know what kind of coach he is whether our opinion is favorable or not. This post has an agenda to me to argue Tubby's credentials yet again so it is moved to this forum. Let's talk UK basketball. I'm tired of talking coaching.

I would think that it is pretty tough to separate Kentucky Basketball from Kentucky's Coach Don't they have something to do with one another?

I agree with TG. Why does this 30 day stretch determine how good of a coach Tubby is when he's been here 8 years, one of which he won the highest honor possible by winning the national title.
And, the comment that we have owned Mike Davis, doesn't mean we still can't lose to him. We've owned Utah as well, but that doesn't mean there won't come a day when they will actually beat us. And if we haven't done good against Rick, he hasn't done good against us, because Kentucky basketball (I mean Tubby Smith) is 2-2 against. We've handled him as many times as he's handled us.

This next stretch determines how good this team is, but Tubby's thru proving to people that he can coach.

The way I see it is Tubby is the coach, his decisions concerning type of offense and defense plus recruiting dictating how we will fair. The polls say we are favored in 3 of the 4 games. Simple question is how well will Tubby coach? By the polls we should win 3 of the 4 games. Bailey

I would think that it is pretty tough to separate Kentucky Basketball from Kentucky's Coach But I thought you could love one and not the other. I do love our Cats and that is why I am interested in them getting the best leadership and coaching possible. Is Tubby vested as a good coach forever because of his good regular season record of the past? Our Kentucky Basketball Program certainly is not vested as one of the top 3 Programs like it once was and is no longer. - you've got to maintain and build upon your success. It's not that way in the real corporate world where one is expected to continue to produce at a compounded rate and EXCUSES don't go very far in giving you a pass for 7 years of lower than expected production.

Bailey, I'm seeing things your way. While teams do have "off nights", and by many of the WM member's own admission UK has been experiencing those, there should STATISTICALLY no reason to lose to UNC, KU, or IU. So, in my reasoning.....if we lose the MAJORITY of those three, then we were ill prepared or made some crucial strategic mistakes.....i.e. coaching.
....as you said, the ranking factor-in such things as roster/experience/talent/strength per position/depth/etc. Much of what would be left would be the variables of location/injuries/coaching decisions.
Well, I've done a very poor job of explaining my point of view. But, I understand where you're coming from Bailey and I mostly agree.
As for UofL, that's already in the books as far as I see.

It surprises me that this topic was moved from "UK and the NCAA". The topic does not slam Tubby or praise him. It addresses the toughest part of our 2005/2006 schedule. Since the SEC is down again this year I feel that these games will play a big part in our national ranking and seeding in the tournament come March. Bailey
