Even Tubby supporters can be disgruntled from time to time.
After the Indiana game I was ready to get rid of Tubby for a couple days, but I finally got back on track. I'm not totally happy with the job Tubby is doing, but I think things could be a whole lot worse, and not much better.
I'll be glad to run the poll again though.

I guess that's possible, but if it is its sliding so slow that many of us just don't see it yet. ;D

Bluecat, Tubby is slowly...VERY slowly letting our program decline. What's the old saying about "how to boil a frog"? Well, as for myself......I'm getting pretty "stewed" with the current state of blue affairs. But, then judging by the current polls running on this page, I'm not the only one. Golf, Bailey, TB, etc.....it's all coming home boys!

I guess that's possible, but if it is its sliding so slow that many of us just don't see it yet. ;D BC, come on now. Tell me you don't see a deterioration in recruiting (especially big men), playing exciting/entertaining basketball, having other teams actually fear us the way they used to, being a true contender for the National Championship every year, etc.

golf, you know what I think about all of this stuff.
Yes, I think that the recruiting has suffered. I've stated that been very open about it. I do think that things are going to have to change in that regard as well. I like the up and down tempo of a basketball game too, but I'm just not sold on the fact that it's the only way to win.
I've seen us too close to the final four under Tubby to believe that he can't get us there again.
That's my honest opinion right now. Is it set in stone, no. After the IU game I was calling for Tubby's head because I was ticked off. I've cooled my heels a little and I see where we can be a much better team by the end of the season.
Now, If we have a poor season this year I may start to change because unless something happens our big man situation isn't going to be much better if at all next season, and that is a product of missing out on the great big men in this years recruiting class.
To make a long story even longer. Here is my stand on Tubby and the state of Kentucky Basketball. Please feel free to quote me all day long.
On Tubby: I think that Tubby Smith is a great coach, but his methods are a bit dated and he needs to look at adapting to today's game and today's mindset to get the right recruits for Kentucky. I think that Tubby is very capable of winning another national title at Kentucky and I believe he will. I am cautiously optimistic where Tubby is concerned. I do believe some changes need to be made and I believe Tubby will make those changes.
On the Team: I think this team is good but not great and that is due to the lack of an inside presence. Shag, Woo, Perry, and Thomas have been a dissapointment, some moreso than others, but all have been less than what we would expect from starters for the Cats. Our guard play has really suffered because of it. Rondo is looking great because Rondo is good enough to overcome the weaknesses of the rest of the team. Sparks can be a star on this team if we have an inside game. If not he's going to continue to struggle. I think everyone's game has suffered because of the lack of the inside game. If and it's a big IF IMO Morris comes back and is what we thought he'd be out of highschool then this team will be capable of doing some great things. The team is going to have to realize however that for now they need to listen to Tubby and play it like he's asking them to. If they'll buy in to what Tubby is telling them we'll be winners. If not Rondo is going to be first team all SEC and that's about all we'll have to brag about.
There you have it guys. Call me ignorant if you want but that's the way I see it.
