That is just how fed up he is with Tubby Smith. Fine, if you're fed up with Tubby go support another team. Then if Tubby ever leaves on bad terms you can come back and give all of us a big "I TOLD YOU SO!". And if he gets back to the Final 4 and wins a championship you can expect the same response from all UK FANS!!!

If you were fed up with your drugged-out child (hypothetically-speaking), would you go try to find another one to replace him/her?

That is just how fed up he is with Tubby Smith. That part is understood, at least by me. My only position is that my love for the program will not be trumped by anything.

kywildcat502, get real, man. I hate UNC worse than poison. Where in my post did it seem like I am a Tarheel fan? Answer: nowhere. But with our present butt-clown leadership at UK, UNC and UCLA will keep adding titles and Final Fours, putting distance between them and us. Yes, I am pissed we won today, and this is why: as long as Tubby keeps getting those 20 wins, he'll keep his job and be at UK for another ungodly 6-8 years. Is that what you guys want? I say, detox UK and have a bad year and Tubby will be gone and we can start getting back to being a title contender and not just an SEC pretender. I'm so sick of Smith it makes me want to take up the bottle again. He depresses the mess out of me. When fans start rooting against a successful team because of the coach, and start thinking about self- destructive behavior, it is time to consider professional assistance.

To me wishing the Cats to lose is a swipe at the kids as much as the coach. Those kids for the most part are out there playing hard trying to win and deserve to be supported.

How many times have you assured us that all or most UK fans want Smith gone?

About the same time you did, I'll warrant. How many times have you assured us that all or most UK fans want Smith gone? Not that many times probably. Have you seen those same message boards you and other used to hang your hat on in terms of fan representation? They've all gone anti-Smith! Face it, a new coach is needed. Answer me this: has UK risen or fallen since Coach Smith took over in terms of national attention, basketball excellence, etc. It's a simple question that require a simple answer. I'm sure, from you, I'll get to see more filibuster.

About the same time you did, I'll warrant. How many times have you assured us that all or most UK fans want Smith gone? Not that many times probably. You knew this was coming, didn't you? It's clear how the majority of UK fans feel now. The last of Smith's noble defenders, fighting like a warrior poet against a fanbase that will no longer accept excuses. I don't play that way. Neither do most fans. Now, unfortunately for the fans, we have to watch the consequence of UK's inability to consistantly fill the needs of the team.As long as UK stays ahead of Louisville, most UK fans will be happy. The fans cheered and played the part of the dutiful servant for Tubby at Midnight Madness while PP and Lucas were there. These are just the ones since November. You will have to trust my admittedly imperfect memory that there were numerous others before that, but apparently older posts are no longer within the reach of the search engine. Feel free to link to any post where I "hung my hat" on any message board with respect to fan representation - ever. You must be thinking of the "others" - I have never said that. I would say Smith's results are comparable to the historical norm for UK, as his win percentage would indicate. As I have said, I don't place much value in so-called "final fours", but I do acknowledge that others find that particular statistic very important. Smith's teams have not done as well in the NCAA tournament as Pitino's did. I think that two or three of Smith's teams have been excellent, and a couple more very good. Three have been slightly below average and one below average. Overall, not the best results as UK coach, but not the worst, either. Now that I have answered your question, perhaps you can answer mine. How do you square this post: Wrong, Catdaddy. For one, I'm sure many fans in Maui don't like Tubby and if given the choice between Smith and someone like Donovan, would take Billy in a nanosecond. But they still cheer. Your assertion is that the "negative" fans don't cheer. You, sir, are completely wrong. We do cheer. Cheer every game and defend Tubby to those oustide the UK family. I've seen it and I do it all the time. It's a case of "I can make fun of my brother, but you cannot." You are too black and white on this issue and I recommend that you reexamine the gray area that fans like me are found. We cheer for the program, but do not like Smith. And if you think a few overly critical fans is the reason PP will go elsewhere, than you are more naive than I could have ever dreamed, bud. with your recent defense of pulling for the other team as "tough love"?

;)Answer: things change. I am sick of watching Smith on the sidelines and this has intensified dramatically this season. You are fine with Sweet Sixteens. After all, in your book, Final Fours don't matter. I enjoyed your vague answer of Smith's job performance. Very predictable I must say. Here's an easier way to put it: all but TWO Pitino players played in a Final Four. Only one Smith player ever played in a Final Four, and that was his son, Saul. Of course, when a fan like you says, "Final Fours don't matter", it helps negate the biggest point that anti-Smiths have, and is extremely convenient for fans who defend him tooth and nail. Extremely convenient. And for the original, those posts were written at different periods. I put a lot of stock into what fans on the message boards say. When some of those were written, it was clear that many UK fans still supported Smith. But you might want to get out and see what they're saying now. I will challenge you with this question, since you have greater access to UK fans than me. Go take a poll somewhere in a public place for 15 minutes. Ask RANDOM UK fans (who are strangers to you) and see if they're happy with Smith as the coach. Go out and do it already. If I lived down there, I would have done it months ago. As for your constant, "I don't really put much stock into Final Fours." You're probably one of about 12 humans in the nation (who follow sports avidly) who don't put stock into the event. That's like saying, "The superbowl is kind of overrated" or "getting to a world series is nothing unless you win it." Why is so much made of the Final Four from the fans and media? Why would the writers of White Men Can't Jump go out of their way to have Payton's character say, "I played in the Final Four with Michigan?" Why would UK hang banners for the event? Face it, you're in such a slim minority on this issue that there is NO credibility to your argument. Take a poll and see how many fans put stock into the Final Four. I can't even believe you would take such a stance - unless, of course, it made Tubby look better.

;)Answer: things change. I am sick of watching Smith on the sidelines and this has intensified dramatically this season. You are fine with Sweet Sixteens. After all, in your book, Final Fours don't matter. Indeed. And I shall enjoy your angry, badgering posts for the next six years or so, regardless of the outcome. So for you and, according to you, all the zillions of fans out there who agree with you, I hope fervently that every one of you watch lots of Smith, because he is going to be front and center in your big screen plasma TV staring right out at you in his own inimitable style. I hope you continue cheering against the 'Cats in the desperate hope that somehow, your dreams will come true, only to wake up the next morning with Smith still the coach. And the next, and the next, and the next... Normally, I consider taking joy in the misery of others a very guilty pleasure. But for you and those who indulge in the same sort of behavior and put your opinions beyond the reach of reason, I'll enjoy that frustration as much as watching Dook loose - maybe more! And I think I'll sleep well nights, too.

While most of the pro-Tubby or anti-Tubby arguments are purely based on personal opinion, there is one simple observation that niether side can deny; Coach Smith has less supporter than he had five years ago. Of course, this cannot be proven. But, how many of you would beg to differ?
