Tubby blew it with Wildcats; what chance do Gophers have? Don't feel bad today for Tubby Smith, who woke up Thursday as the coach at Kentucky but will wake up Friday at Minnesota. That's a ghastly career arc, but Tubby did this to himself. Kentucky fans didn't help the situation, but they aren't the losers here. Tubby is. Tubby had one of the best jobs in college basketball and drove it right up to the side of the cliff. He didn't drive Kentucky over that cliff -- that would have come next year, assuming junior center Randolph Morris turns pro -- but he had this monster of a basketball program creeping right up to the edge. ... Pretty much sums up what i think about it. I don't think he will be fired, because he is capable of winning 15 games a year there. They will never be a top 25 team, and might not make it into the tournament in this decade.

Wow, that from Doyel? He's finally got it right.
I think you'll see more and more of the media turn on Tubby now that he isn't at UK. At UK he was sheltered and protected from criticism, but he's not at Kentucky now. Watch the opinions of sportswriters all over the country change.
Just like I did. Their eyes will now be opened.

Tubby, and the Gophers, will win more games next season than UK, with their new coach, will win next season. Both teams will be coached by someone who did not recruit their players.
What are the odds that this happens?

WON'T HAPPEN. NOW YOU COULD SAY THAT MINN. WILL WIN MORE THAN THEY DID THIS YEAR AND UK MAY WIN FEWER, BUT MINN ONLY WON 3 GAMES.

And without Morris, Patterson, Lucas, and a couple of susprise transfers, just how many will UK win next year. BTW, Minn record was 9-22 this season as per Rivals. Remember UNC going 8-20 a few years back, and remember UK going 13-13 20 odd years ago. crap happens.

The fact that we're even talking about the possibility of this happening proves that Tubby did drive this program to the edge of the cliff. He was handed a juggernaut in 97 and now we're talking NIT or .500 if we don't get a couple of freshmen. Think about it.
