Is it me or is the national media killing UK fans for "running Tubby out of UK". The thing the national media is failing to realize is 25 losses in the past two seasons would be totally unacceptable at: Duke, UNC, Kansas, UCLA, etc. Not to mention no recent sweet 16's, elite eights, or Final 4's. - If I were a betting man (and I am) I would easily bet fan criticism and concern would happen at the above mentioned institutions. - So if this would happen at all these other schools, why is the media criticising UK fans? - There is no way in hell Tubby's recent track record would fly at Duke, UNC, Kansas, etc. Agree? Their fans would be in an uproar too. I'm tired of being called out as a fan because UK's coach couldn't recruit or get them to the Final 4.

However, the media would not react the same way to UNC, Duke or others. Did they act this way with Matt D at UNC, who really was run out of town? No. Tubby left of his own accord anyway.

To hell with the media. We needed a change. The program was going down regardless of what the media says. All the coaches on TV get paid to start bullcrap. I dont care if it was Tubby leaving or the University telling him to leave. Its not about winning percentages, SEC titles, or coach of the year awards. Its about NCs. If not, why do we all make such a big deal of March Madness.

It is all b/c they know UK will be back on top. To say it is racism or that we ran him out...blah...blah....blah is pathetic and they know it. They are trying to fill the new recruits heads with BS to keep them from coming here.
UL did the same thing to Denny to get Pitino in. UNC did the same thing after 2 bad years with Brad. IU did the same thing with Davis after 6 and 3 after his Runner UP in the tourney. UCLA did it to Lavin. EVERY BIG PROGRAM HAS STANDARDS TO MEET. And when the other coach's did not meet them, they got rid of them faster the UK did.

It's just the topic du jour. It will pass. How do you decide who is out of step? Is the UK fan unreasonable or is it the rest of the world who is out of step? Seems to me that most of the knowledgable media have come in on the side that says the UK Fans are unreasonable. Can they all, except Pat Forde, be wrong?

It draws more viewership by spinning it to the negative. Nothing to worry about IMO.

Seems to me that most of the knowledgable media have come in on the side that says the UK Fans are unreasonable. Can they all, except Pat Forde, be wrong? I don't actually think there is a consensus. There are a number of reputable sportswriters besides Forde who have basically said it was a good thing for all involved. The reason UK fans have come off as "unreasonable" is because we have allowed the loud, abusive, radical Smith-hating minority to become the face of our fans. The media are actually excoriating about 20% of UK fans, and instead of drawing the line between the radicals and the mainstream, they are just throwing them all into one big bag and stomping on it. This is known as the logical fallacy of composition - i.e. the inference that because certain individuals have a certain characteristic, the entire class of people also possess it. It is a tried and true tactic for political rhetoric, and they are simply trotting it out here because it is facile and looks convincing. In fact, your own conclusion is the logical fallacy known as argumentum ad populum, or an appeal to popularity. ;D
