The e-mail inbox included this message last week from UK fan Scott Abbott: "You and Tubby (Smith) are a joke. He never should have been hired in the first place. Everywhere he has been he has always won with someone else's recruits. He was at Tulsa four years, Georgia two years, and won with (Rick) Pitino's boys. "Why don't you and all your liberal friends at the Lexington Herald quit your crying. Tubby is gone and he won't be back. All you do is put negative stuff in the paper. Look at all the polls ... and you will see that the majority wanted Flubby gone. So why don't you tell the truth? Or is Tubby still paying you to write good stuff about him? Why don't you and all your liberal friends just move to Minnesota, so you can still get paid to write good stuff about Flubby?" Abbott, 37, who wrote that he lived in Somerset, worked at a factory and rooted for Kentucky since 1977, "but I have not been able to watch a whole ballgame since Tubby has been at UK because Tubby ball is so boring and most of his teams did not ever play with any heart." Comment: While wondering what liberal or conservative has got to do with Kentucky basketball, let's follow the advice of UK President Lee Todd. He once suggested that the best way to respond in such instances is to say, "Thanks for sharing your views and be sure to write back when you're feeling well." kentucky.com/276/story/31611.html
