Relatives of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and a firefighters union said Thursday they're angry that President Bush's new campaign ads include images of the destroyed World Trade Center and firefighters carrying a flag-draped stretcher through the rubble. They say the ads are in poor taste and accuse Bush of exploiting the attacks. Bush's campaign defended the commercials as appropriate for an election about public policy and the war on terror, saying they were a tasteful reminder of what the country has been through the last three years. The campaign had said in the past that it would not use the attacks for political gain. "It makes me sick," Colleen Kelly, who lost her brother Bill Kelly Jr., in the attacks and leads a victims families group called Peaceful Tomorrows, said Thursday. "Would you ever go to someone's grave site and use that as an instrument of politics? That truly is what Ground Zero represents to me." Link

I cheer our President, throughout this terrible tragedy, he displayed strong, and unwavering leadership, and took decisive measures that, at the time, was backed by everyone. This is a big part of history and will always be remembered and shown on TV. Will the people that lost someone be pissed off for the rest of there life every time they see it on TV or pictures in a magazine?

I am glad Gore wasn't President when all that happened. He would have done NOTHING as a course of action.

I am glad Gore wasn't President when all that happened. He would have done NOTHING as a course of action. He would have set up several insight groups to discuss the issues, and whose fault was it. They would have answers they cooked up about this time next year.

I am glad Gore wasn't President when all that happened. He would have done NOTHING as a course of action. Gore would have done fine if his people didn't catch it before it happened!! If the Press was down on him like it was Clinton then he probably would have had problems!! I wish we had a free Press in the United States like we used to so you guys could hear the truth!!

The Press down on Clinton? Maybe making a big deal out of the scandal...but the guy Blatantly Lied to the entire Nation. Everyone should have been down on him...I have No respect for that man. Nor should the Democratic Party. Everything the Clinton's do is to benifit numero uno....and eventually you all will realize that it is hurting your own party. I wish we had an unbiased press....so YOU guys could hear the truth. The media is horribly biased towards the Leftist point of view. Even the Lexington Herald Leader is a Liberal newspaper.

Why do people constantly offer up baseless claims that Al Gore would have went and hid and did nothing about September 11th? He did go to Vietnam whereas Mr. Bush used his Father's political standing to jump over thousands waiting for the National Gaurd and avoid the war in Vietnam.
As for Bill Clinton, he may have made mistakes. He may have had moral issues. However, his mistakes hurt no one but him and his family. George Bush's gauruntee of WMD launhed us into a war that hurt more than just his family. Almost 600 men and women have lost their lives under the assumption that Sadaam Hussein had WMD. Each made a mistake, one cost lives the other did not.

Each made a mistake, one cost lives the other did not. All Presidents make mistakes, and I disagree KYKIDD about Bush completely ! He did what was right to do, whether Saddam had weapons of mass destruction or not (See Hitler) Although , Hitler was more widespread, many of the things he did, so did Saddam. Saddam even used chemical gases and weapons on his own people, gasing many and throwing them into mass graves by the THOUSANDS, people were put in firing squads right in front of their own friends and gunned down execution style, his sons were allowed to run rampant, taking woman, young woman off the streets, away from their families. kept from them and raped repeatedly and beaten by his sons, not one or two woman, many, many young women. Ican go on and on, but again I will say to you, an American is, and always has stood for its own, but we have also stood for freedom in other countries, (Yugoslavia, Milon Milosovich), and many others. Your about to enter the Air Force, and you may one day be called to go and defend the rights of other Country, now forget George Bush, what if its Al Gore that s sends you? It does not matter who it is, Republican, Democrat they were ALL SAYING Saddam should go, at least the majority of them were. And your wrong about Clintons Moral issues affecting no one but him, it made a mockery of our country at the time to other Nations around the world, and the things he stood for, and the morals he is suppose to lead by as President of the United States, all saw his morals, old and young alike, and I wonder how many young teenagers have said, hey the President done it (Sex,Lying,Perjury ETC..), if he can.......

I will promise to uphold and defend my country against those who threaten it regardless of who the commander-in-cheif may be. I will do the duty I'm called upon to do, however, it doesn't mean I have to agree with it. I don't dispute that Sadaam Hussien was/is an evil man who needed to be removed from power. However, that does not change the reason why we went to war. The cheif purpose behind the war, at least before it began, was not that Sadaam Hussien was an evil dictator. There are dozens more around the world, at least one in our own hemispere. The reason we went to war was because we were told with 100% certainty that Iraq had produced and was continuing to produce weapons of mass destruction capable of harming the United States and its allies. However, after the war we're allowed to say, "Well it's OK that they didn't have WMD, because we removed an evil man from power." I don't approve of such Machavellian ideas. That's not a good way to go about things IMO. Some may choose to believe that the Bush administration completely lied to and mislead the American people, while others may say it was an intelligence mishap. I believe it was a little bit of both. I think they perhaps cherry-picked a little info, but were about 50% sure there were WMD. But that's irrelevant, doesn't change the fact that the Bush administration was incorrect. I'm not saying those people died for no reason, however, I am saying they died for a reason other than the one their commander-in-cheif told them.
About global humilation---After 9/11 we were loved by everyone. The global climate right now, suggests that the United States and George Bush are villified by other nations. It may have been an embarrassment to the American people about what Bill Clinton did (he was not the first and won't be the last), but our unpopularity around the world today is unbelievable.

Kidd, we are just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I will say that I do beleive it was a little of both though as far as why we went to war. His (Saddam's) own scientist were lying to him about having WMD,And that is some of the Intel we were getting. They were so afraid to tell him they did'nt because of what he would do, they lied, and yes, we beleived many of those Lies, but after 9-11, I would err on the side of caution any day. When the democrats stop allowing abortions, stop the liberal ACLU instead of supporting them, Stop the filthy Hollywood crew that they cater to, stop Jessie Jackson and some of the other absolute awful things they stand behind, I would gladly return to the party on the monetary issues, but to me, Moral Issues are more important than all the money in the world ! (Oh, and Kick Hillary Clinton, and Nancy Pelosi out of the Party !)
