As a prospect, former Kentucky Mr. Basketball J.R. VanHoose draws lukewarm interest from the NBA. So, tit for tat, he expresses tepid interest in watching the NBA Draft on Wednesday. "I'll probably watch," he said before adding, "Depends on what else is on TV." Disregard the feinted nonchalance. VanHoose has a keen interest in continuing his basketball career. He's hired an agent. Not expected to be drafted, he's hoping for an invitation to an NBA team's free-agent minicamp (Sacramento and the New York Knicks are possibilities, he said.) He's willing to consider going anywhere -- well, just about anywhere -- to keep playing. "I'm definitely not going to Israel," VanHoose said, leavening his prudence with a lighthearted tone. Van Hoose would probably be going somewhere in the 2nd round, if he'd went to a better school.

He would have been a better recruit than Tackett.
