You've probably heard the old discussion about people's personalities...were they determined by genetics (nature) or by environment (nurture). On that theme, did you become a Cat fan by birth or by choice (or a combination of the two)?
As for me, I think its a little of both. My grandparents and parents were avid UK fans (both my grandfather and father were also UK graduates), so it was a given that you would be seated in front of the radio on game nights listening to Cawood call the action. As I got older, my devotion to the Cats only grew (though my brothers seemed to drift off to other interests...as if there is anything more interesting than the CATS!! LOL). My whole family knows if you call me during a game, IF I answer the phone, you better be prepared for a butt-chewing! If I don't answer, then give up already and wait until AFTER the game is over! So, my family introduced me to being a Cat fan, but I CHOSE to continue this and become an even bigger fan as the years passed.

I discovered the Kentucky Wildcats on my own when i was a kid. Let us say Caywood Ledford primed the pump, after i heard him call a game i was hooked from then on. My love for the Cats has never waived since then

My love of the Wildcats came from my Dad..he started me out watching them as a child..I don't remember exactly when I started but I can remember watching..I can remember listening to Cawood on the radio and loving his voice and how excited he got..My brother was a fan too but not like me..And since moving to Florida he is a Florida fan! shame on him..lol..BUt I think the love of UK Basketball is passed down from generation to generation or you do just pick it up and start getting addicted on your own. Great question ForeverBigBlue!

Oh gosh, I believe me becoming a wildcat fan had something to do with signing my name in blood under threat of death from my dear ol CUZ who was cat crazy. LOL. Seriously it had to do with Rupps BOYZ and me being a jock all the way thru school, loving basketball more than football and baseball, UK was the ONLY game in town and I wanted desperatly to belong to it and my ONLY way to do that was to become a fan and that is what I are today. MY wife asked me if I wanted to be buried in a Kentucky casket today and I said, "WHY NOT."

Parents or Grandparents could care less for sports so I did it on my own. And being raised in Louisville I'm still surprised I'm UK First. ED

Mine is totally by nature. No one in my family really gets into the Cats like I do. They watch the games from time to time, but would never obsess enough to join...dare I say...a message board!!

LOL Spam, I don't either. BUT this is tempting- I would at least like to stick around long enough to see #8 go up in Rupp, then I would go peacefully. ++++NOT. You know me well enough by now that I would NEVER go peacefully
