Former University of Kentucky basketball standout Deron Feldhaus put himself in the driver's seat after he shot a 68 in the opening round of the Fourth annual River Bend Open Saturday. On Sunday, Feldhause went to work with his irons and putter as he recorded another 68 to win the championship flight Sunday afternoon.

As many of you know, I changed derons diapers when his daddy coached at Russell County and when he was still playing for Mason County they all came down here to play in a couple of our tournaments at Lakewood, WHICH I was a part of the redesigning when we went to 18 holes and Deron could KILL the ball then. He used to win the long drive contest and had absolutly NO IRON game then. However, he could certainly put the ball and with such a distance off the tee, a putter came in handy. He SHOULD win since he and his dad OWN the course in Mason County. I told Eddie Sutton one time that there was TWO things he did not want to do and that was to give Deron strokes and TRY to drink with his dad for he was sure to lose both contests
