Would it also be called Rupp Arena, seems to me that would only be right, wouldn't it?

It would be kind of hard to build a new facility and give the same name as our current arena.
Honoring Rupp is wonderful, no doubt about it. But IMO, I'd rather have an arena that honors the PROGRAM, not a single coach (of course, they could slip in the coaches by naming sections and/or concourses after them!). Big Blue Arena or Wildcat Colesium (or something along those lines) would work great for me! 8)

Now, when someone builds an arena, about 90% of the team it bears the name of a company.

Its a great basketball arena, Rupp that is! Coach Adolph Rupp never coached a game in it, he seen some of the games played there from the stands before he passed on. Rupp was built by the City of Lexington, and named to honor Kentucy's retired legendary coach. Coach Rupp built the UK basketball program over in Memorial Coliseum where the Wildcats was almost unbeatable for 26 years. Joe B Hall opened the Rupp Arena era, in late 1976, or in early 77. Where the tradition still grows.
