In a strange way, Joe B. Hall was right. The only disagreement we ever had when he was the caretaker at UK, was shortly after I moved to Kentucky. It made no sense to me that UK refused to play Louisville in hoops. I made a big deal of it, and even put a story on ESPN about how narrow-minded UK was because it would be a great game for the fans.
It is a great game for the fans, but, the sidebar result might not be so good for UK.
Back in the good-old-days, could you imagine UK not getting the money promised to fix up Rupp Arena? When UK made the deal to get Rupp fixed up, no one thought this was going to be a problem.
Like it or not, Louisville's football and basketball programs have changed the sports perception in Kentucky more than many want to admit. You have to wonder how it would be different if they didn't play, but playing is the right thing to do.
So, this problem that Tubby faces in the future, isn't just about Tubby. It has something to do with how the landscape has changed. But, when you make the big bucks, you take the heat.

I have somewhat mixed feelings about the above statement. Is it really a good game for the fans? There is a LOT of animosity between UK and UL fans. Some people handle it like adults, and for some it turns to hatred. When you have a very good friend that is as big a UL fan as you are a UK fan, it really saddens me to see all the animosity. That being stated, I did not always feel that way.

The only thing that changed when we started playing UoL was our animosity changed from TENN&*(&##%^EE to UoL. Does it look like I do NOT like TENN^%&(*%$%^&EE? God, do I even loath that team.
