Six weeks after a virus caused a severe case of vertigo, Hornets forward Jamal Mashburn has been cleared physically by his doctors.
"He's doing fine," said Hornets coach Paul Silas. "He's resumed workouts and can go back to his normal life."
Mashburn, who could not be reached for comment, came down with the illness during the opening game of the Hornets' first-round playoff series against the Orlando Magic. He played 10 minutes.
He missed the rest of the first round and all of the Hornets' second-round defeat to the New Jersey Nets. That loss ended the Hornets' 14-year run in Charlotte; they'll play in New Orleans next season.
Mashburn's constant dizzy spells the past few weeks often made it difficult for him to get out of bed. Hornets spokesman Harold Kaufman said Mashburn has returned to his off-season home in Miami.
"He's exercising, lifting weights and feeling a lot better," Kaufman said. "He's doing all the things he'd normally do in terms of summer training."

Good to hear! Charlotte could have beaten the Nets with him and created an awesome playoff between Boston and Charlotte...a Wildcat's dream!

I hated to see Mash get so ill in the midst of the playoffs. I agree with you TG...if Mash had been able to play, the Hornets would have been playing the Celtics in the conference finals. How cool that would have been!
