As much as I have been against the abuse, and for the prosecution of those doing the abuse I feel like the punishment was a bit harsh. It appears to me that Sivits was used as an example, and I'm never for that. He cooperated in every way with the investigation. If I'm judge I sentence him to less time, and an "other than honorable discharge" That discharge could later be upgraded to honorable.

This is all becoming too much like "A Few Good Men." Superiors order soldiers to do something. Soldier questions it and is reminded that failure to obey direct orders is grounds for being court-martialed. Soldier obeys orders and then is made an "example" because he followed orders.
