"DeMand, DeSire, DeMoss,” is the motto that has draped the billboards around town and elevator doors at Commonwealth Stadium. As practice begins tonight with Big Blue Madness, the excitement and hype have only intensified around the women’s basketball program and first-year coach Mickie DeMoss. At the University of Tennessee, DeMoss was the women’s basketball associate head coach for 18 seasons. She is now facing a much different task. She must build instead of maintain a nationally recognized program.

Ah you beat me to it. Great article. Kernel has some good writers this year. It's weird hearing that the excitement for women's basketball is higher than it was when she started at Tennessee...that is some intriguing information. Women's basketball will never supercede the men, but there won't be too big a problem filling Memorial's seats and establishing record crowds for women's games. To be honest, the better our women's team is and the more hype surrounded by her program...better recruiting in both basketball sports. Everyone will know FOR SURE Kentucky is a basketball school and that we are obsessed with it. I really hope she does great things here and I'm excited to see the women play.
