I will be the first to tell you, I have not kept up with the Lady Cats recruiting this offseason, although I am a big fan of Demoss and the team. However, here is an article I found by someone who has kept up with them, and I thought it was a great read, so I will pass it on to you. The person who does the write up I thought did a great job ! -- Here is a small review of some of the big names that could end up on campus next season.
First is Aisha Jefferson from Dayton, OH. She a 6-foot-0 foward who is ranked by ASG (All-Star Grils Report) as the number 10 player in the nation. Right now she is listing Auburn, Boston College, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan State, and Purdue as her front runners.
Then you got Jill Stephens a 6-foot-3 center from Parkersburg WV, Parkersburg South HS. She was (AAA) player of the year in WV as a junior last season and Miss Basketball is nearly a given next season for this blue chip recruit. Averaging a double, double in points and recounds last season she is a force in the low post and will be one of the nation top 50 players. Right now she is wide open with her recruitment, but sources have told us she has be contacted by Kentucky.
Next you got Dewanna Bonner a 6-foot-3 PG from Fairfield AL, Fairfield HS. With the lack of depth at the postion look for Kentucky to sign a big time name there and this young lady is as big as it gets . At six -foot-three you will rarley find that combination of height and athletsim in the women's game. All three of the young ladys i've have listed above were chosen on the USA Basketball Youth team which features the nation brightest talent in the women's game .
Then you got Cassie Kerns a 6-foot-3 Poward foward from Valparaiso IN, Valparaiso HS. Right now her stock is just going through the roof . From what i've been told she has just been contacted by Uconn and Tenneessee. Both Cassie and her father Randy where in Lexington a few weeks back where Kentucky made her a offer -- She also is still wide open in her recruitment.
Then you got Kentuckys own Carly Ormerod a 5-foot- 7 Point guard from Louisville KY, Sacred Heart Academy. If you are familar with kentucky high school girls action you know who this recruit is. Shealready been MVP of the Sweet Sixteen tournament and racked up many other honors in the state. From what i've been told Kentucky has a super shot at landing this recruit. She talks of the univeristy very highly.
Next is Lauren Aitch a 6-foot- 2 Poward Foward Lansing MI. This is another big time recruit who just finished up at the addias camp . Coach Demoss has really recruited well from the state of Michigan. Don't be suprise to see Miss Aitch at Mid Night Maddness.
Last, but not least by the largest margin is 6-foot-5 Samantha Johnson of Jeffersonville, IN. She is very young and raw in the paint, but her size alone is very intriguing . One of my friends nick named her the Lady Shaq. If you see pictures of her you will know what he means .
Here are just a few of the names the Cats are after this 2005 recruiting season. Make sure you stop by the Legacy and make your opioin heard about all these recruits. Dont' forget DeMoss is building a Legacy one day at a time !
