Our whole problem, other than defense and special teams play, is our recruiting. People say we have talent but, I really don't think that they are looking at the product as a whole. Kentucky is at, or close to, the bottom of the league in recruiting class ranking every year. Every year! We can NOT compete in the SEC with a team that has a 2.5 star average. Not going to happen and if it were not for our soft 'non conference' scheduling, we would not have made it to ANY bowls the last 4 years. For us to be competitive in the SEC, we have got to get better players in here. It's that simple. The best defensive player coming in next year is a corner back that is a 3 star player and the 29th best at that position. Then we move to the next best and he is a 3 star DT and 79th best at that position. Follow these guys with 2 star players and here we are. I understand that SOME great players (like Cobb) come in rated low but, it takes 11 players to do the job. JMHO.

Amen! The problem has always been recruiting. The state of Kentucky doesn't produce enough 5 and 4 star recruits to field a team which leaves us recruiting players out of Ohio (OSU), Indiana (ND), Tennessee, (UT), Georgia (UGA) etc etc. It is near impossible for us to pull the 4 and 5 star players away from these traditional powers. We do get one every once in a while, but recruiting against Florida in Football is like Vandy recruiting against Kentucky in basketball. It's a tall order to fill.

boise st. has been doing big things without a bunch of high rated recruits for years They have the first and only 2 time winner of the Paul "Bear" Bryant National Coach of the Year award as coach. Even he would have it tough if Boise State were in the SEC.
