There were a lot of problems with Kentucky’s defense last season. Steve Brown’s squad pretty much wrote the book on missing tackles and blowing assignments, expecially in the first half. It’s almost like they were asleep on the field for the first thirty minutes. After reading this, I’m shocked. It sounds like they were getting enough shut-eye already. In a story about UK’s defense looking to improve, Ukwu said this…
”I think it was a little bit of players not paying attention enough, especially in meetings. That is why we try to emphasize now everybody staying awake in our meetings and stuff like that.” Hmm. I honestly don’t even know what to say to this. Sleeping. And apparently sleeping in such a widespread manner that they’re only “trying to emphasize that guys don’t do that”. And this is the unit that Joker said will have to carry the team this year for the first several games. Awesome. -KSR
