UK Men’s Tennis senior Eric Quigley extended his Wildcat career for another day this afternoon by advancing to the Final Four of the singles NCAA tournament. Quigley is just the third player in UK history to advance to the semifinals. Jesse Witten (2002 finals) and Carlos Drada (2000 finals) are the only other 2 former tennis players from UK to advance past the Elite 8. Quigley won in dramatic fashion, coming back from down 3-1 in the second set to add to his first set victory. Quigley sealed the deal with back-to-back aces to clinch the match. The #2 seed in the tournament, Mitchell Frank of Virginia, was upset in the Elite 8. Eric Quigley’s road to the championship just opened up a bit wider with the upset. Quigley has enjoyed a stellar career in his time as a Kentucky Wildcat. Finishing with a trip to the Final 4 (and hopefully a national championship) would be the perfect way for the South Oldham alum (shout out to my high school) to cap off his collegiate career. Quigley will meet Ohio State’s Blaz Rola in the Final Four match at noon tomorrow. Good luck to Quigley in his quest for a national championship. #WeAreUK
