by John Wilmhoff @ from the KSR Blog: UKAthletics.com recently published a breakdown of the budget for the 2013 Fiscal Year and an overall look at the finances of UK Athletics during Mitch Barnhart’s tenure as Athletics Director. You can click here for the entire breakdown, but since we have such a huge following of Louisville fans here on KSR, the part that I would like to focus on is how UK stacks up financially against UofL: Perhaps you’ve heard from Cardinal fans about their most profitable college basketball program in the country, according to their reported figures, but if UofL is making so much money, than how are they not self-sustaining? With a football program claimed to be “miles ahead” of UK and a basketball program that has been financially more prosperous than Kentucky’s, why is UK the school that is giving back to the University while Cardinals athletics are taking away from it?
