University of Kentucky freshman Archie Goodwin will enter his name in the 2013 NBA draft, and Willie Cauley-Stein and Kyle Wiltjer plan to return the 2013-14 season, UK announced on Monday. “I’m excited that Willie and Kyle have decided to return for next season,” UK coach Jon Calipari said in a release. “When we talk about a players-first program, our goal is for each player to reach his dreams. Willie and Kyle believe it is in their best interest to return to Kentucky next season to achieve those dreams, and I fully support their decisions. “Although I really wanted Archie to return for his sophomore season, I fully support him choosing to pursue his dreams. He has the drive and desire to be great and I will continue to do everything I can to make sure he succeeds in life both on and off the court.” Goodwin was the team’s leading scorer with a 14.0 scoring average en route to Freshman All-SEC honors. “This is something I've dreamed about my entire life and I feel like the opportunity is there for me to play at the next level,” Goodwin said in a release. “I will stay in Lexington to finish my schoolwork this semester before continuing to pursue my dream.” Goodwin has not signed with an agent. The NBA draft is June 27. Cauley-Stein earned All-Southeastern Conference Freshman team accolades after averaging 8.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Wiltjer will enter his junior season after being named SEC Sixth Man of the Year. The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 10.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore. www.courier-journal.com/article/20130401/SPORTS03/304010038/Kentucky-basketball-lose-Goodwin-NBA-draft-Cauley-Stein-Wiltjer-plan-return

So happy WCS is staying. I think it benefits him greatly....and it sure doesn't hurt us one bit! Love his attitude, effort and energy. Great kid!

Yeah, I'm glad WCS is coming back as well. I'm not at all sad to see Goodwin leave as I thought he was all about himself and didn't care a thing about the program or his team unless it made him look good.

I've got mixed feelings about Archie's departure. I certainly don't think he's ready, and I hope he won't come to regret his decision. At the same time, I agree with BlueCat about his attitude. It always seemed his emotional involvement was driven by the level of success he and the team were having rather than the other way around. If his departure makes a spot for a Kentucky boy who may stay all four years, then it should be a positive for the program.

I gotta feelin he will be back.....he hasnt signed with an agent and i believe when he gets to the combine he may not hear the things he wants......I really dont believe a team will take him in the first round no matter what Chad Ford says....dont get me wrong he is an unbelievable talent but he could use another year or two to get his motor under control and show he can play with a "team"

Having Willie, Kyle, and Alex back should bode well for the Cats.

First transaction would effectively end amateur status if I am not mistaken.

I've heard he has already signed some autographs that will be for sale if they sell just one he can't come back.

He's gone and I think this equates to addition by subtraction. I think the TEAM just got better.
