Has anyone else been following the story about the Lite Brite looking objects placed throughout the city. They resembled a cartoon character on the Aqua Teen Hunger Force cartoon and people thought they were bombs and the bomb squad was called in to remove several. These marketing items were placed in 10 different cities in the US and Boston is the only place that freaked out, and they had been up for weeks before anyone actually noticed them. The guys who put them up are being accused of doing a "hoax", which is odd since they were trying to bring attention to something and not trick or deceive anyone. Those burn out looking guys weren't trying to hurt or scare anyone and now they could face 5 years in jail. The paranoia in this country is insane. www.yahoo.com/s/497876

Yoy know, if Ted Turner(who authorized this marketing ploy) had notified the Boston officials of his scheme, people would not have mistaken them for bombs. But, then again, if Turner had asked permission Boston officials would not have allowed it.

Not true. Just because the police know it isn't a bomb doesn't mean Joe Chowderhead won't either.

The police didn't know according to the news report this morning. In fact, no one was to know. That was the jist of the ad campaign.
Hey, it's Boston. It would've been the same in any metro area; a group of unknowns are witnessed by the general population mounting suspicious "blinking" electronic items under overpasses, on bridges, and transportation venues. Paranoia? This time, yes. Next time?
Whatever your position, it was still a foolish thing for Ted Turner to approve. BTW, the news reported at noon that Turner had fired the ad agency that he had contracted to do it.

In addition, If you haven't seen the LED graphic that was supposed to promote the TBS show, it depicts a little "lite-brite" looking figure flipping passer-bys off............a really mature promotion for all to see.

Oh I've seen it. Never claimed it was mature, but we live in the age of Victoria Secrets ads with barely dressed women followed up by ads to cure erectile dysfunction. Those are suitable for everyone to see? Regardless, the promotion worked....online searches for the cartoon are up 900%.
To me, it's sad that so many people have the knee jerk reaction that something unusual must be related to terrorism without making the effort to find out the facts for themselves. It's a wonder this didn't cause the terror level to go up to orange, or red, or whatever colors are on that damn thing.
