If he's been a part of this I think he should get the maximum penalty as should his partners. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior. He may well have thrown away a great NFL career.

Much like the chicken fights around this area. Cock-fighting is HUGE around here but I don't see very many trying to stop it.
Like it or not, Vick is now the spokesman for animal cruelty. I'm not sure if 6 years in prison is the correct sentence but he certainly should be punished.
JMO.

He won't get 6 years. More likely a big fine and some time in a resort prison, say 1 year? These were dogs and we cannot even get long sentences when the crimes are committed against people. Like when the dude was engaged in sexual assaults on children and the judge dismissed the charges because he could not locate an interpreter. Sick - sick - sick.

Also, since you don't seem to think that what Vick did is that big a deal, are you trying to say that dog fighting should be legal? You see, that is exactly what you did to me by putting words in my mouth. So, since you seem to think that I think that rape is not as bad as dog fighting, I seem to think that you think dog fighting should be legal. Michael Vick did not only gamble and fund the dog fights, he participated in the executions of 8 dogs in one day, and probably many more in the past. Does that seem like an OK thing to do? |

Does that seem like an OK thing to do? you said mike vick should be sentenced to 6 years. mike tyson was sentenced to 6 years. they committed completely different levels of crime. i am asking if you think there should be equal punishment for completely differently levels of crime. i personally don't like what mike vick did, but i really don't care. just like i don't care about what happens to all the animals whose meat i happen to eat. do you eat meat? do you care about the mass slaughter of those animals? they're his dogs that he purchased, and it was done on his property. who am i to say that what he did is much worse than hunting even though they are essentially the same thing? should he really go to jail for a year or more for that? jamal lewis was convicted of setting up a major cocaine deal across state lines, something that had a fairly negative effect on hundreds, if not thousands of people, yet he only spent 4 months in a halfway house. i know you were alive for that. |

Vick will rightfully get 12-18 months, it's Federal so by law has to serve 87% of his sentence.. So 10-15 months in Prison and 2-3 months in a half-way house after his release....
