I was looking at some banners in Memorial Coliseum last night and realized something pretty interesting that I didn't know before.
In Tubby's 5 years, UK has 3 regular season SEC titles ('98, '00 and '01).
In Pitino's 7 years, UK had........
2 REGULAR SEASON SEC TITLES ('95 and '96).
Not too bad for Tubby, eh?

No, not at all, but Pitino is still the King of college basketball. I cant believe what he is doing at Louisville. But other than him, I think Tubby is the best choice for Kentucky and hes doing some awesome things with our program.

Tubby is the greatest besides Rupp, Pitino and Hall in UK history. Way to go, Tubby. Love that SEC, 5 FF teams in the last 3 years. Tough league.

I think I'd place Tubby above Joe B.

Well the way things are going this season, we may put him over Ricky Pitino as well. He's on his way to a 2nd National Title in only 6 years. We're unstoppable!

Shall we not complain while we are 17-3, 11 game winning streak, undefeated in the highest rated conference in America, with more wins over top 50 RPI teams than anyone else, and coming off a beat down of the number one team in the nation, and the coach many want to replace the current coach. OK i'm through with my excessively long run-on sentence.

Who's complaining now? We are forcing other teams to react to us not the converse. Tubby has done a very good job this year esp after the UL game. Question is why did Mike pratt say on the radio broadcast that UK had got more floorburns as a team in the last 3 weeks than it had in the last year and a half combined? I think Tubby may have something to do with both ends of that equation, too.

Question is why did Mike pratt say on the radio broadcast that UK had got more floorburns as a team in the last 3 weeks than it had in the last year and a half combined? I think Tubby may have something to do with both ends of that equation, too. Possibly. Or possibly not. I don't really know. It just amazes me how much people attribute to the coach sometimes (positive and negative). There are five guys out on the court who actually, believe it or not, make some decisions on their own. I rememer being at a game where one of our starters (Fitch, I believe) missed an open, close-range shot, and some idiot student behind me yelled, "Come on, Tubby!" I'm still one of those people that believes the person most responsible for a player making a shot is THAT PLAYER!!! It seems we've all forgotten that the players can do anything right or wrong. If the team wins, the coach did well. If they lose, he did poorly. Can a good coach have a bad team? Definitely! Can a bad coach have a good team? Absolutely! That's why we see coaches who have been around for a long time go through some good seasons and some bad. I think you have to take a broader perspective to determine how good or bad a coach really is (that's why I harp on looking at what they've done in the long-run). I doubt many bad coaches could keep their teams performing at high NCAA tournament levels, and I don't think many good coaches would go too long without bringing their team up to a competitive level in conference and maybe even tournament play. Bottom line: Yes, the coaches do a lot. But so do the players. If the team is spending more time on the ground this season than the past 3, does that mean the coach has changed? Maybe. But then, I see a different team dynamic out there with the same coach, so my most natural inclination would be to believe that the team has changed. (In this case, gotten rid of some big egos and selfish players, making the humble, selfless attitude more contagious for everybody.)

Stupid, stupid and stupid,???I mean Rupp, Pitino and Hall. Well,Rupp is dead, Hall is retired and Pitino is your coach of your favorite team, so what does that have to do with Wildcat basketball. I understand that you visit this UK board, but please, we are on a National Championship season, wish you could enjoy it like the rest of us. I wish you team the best of luck, except when they play UK. :giddy: :giddy: :giddy: :giddy: :giddy: :giddy: :giddy:

Tubby may not be my favorite coach but that has nothing to do with my support of the program. Perhaps you should engage your brain before you put your mouth in gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Lets be very clear on something...because someone does not necessarily want Tubby at UK, it does NOT equate that they are not a UK fan.
Please respect your fellow posters and respect the fact they are a fan just as much as you are. They simply have different opinions of the coaching staff.
