Out of respect for a members name, I will refrain from now on calling you teddy, TedRay80. BUT, this comment by you===== Over a long span, no coach--not Coach K, not Lute Olsen, not Tom Izzo--has been able to consistently keep his team as a top 3 power don't make a heck of a lot of sense since you want to compare coach K's record to tubbys. Well, coach K's record the last FIVE years is, ----READY for this? 164 and 19. Pretty darn good record wouldn't you say? Compared to tubbys record, he las lost MORE games in TWO years than K has in FIVE. OUCH ;D ;D. But, that is OK with me cause I can't stand him, {COACH K that is} AND, I believe that Duke has been #1 at least 6 times the last 9 seasons. How many times has UK been ranked #1

How many times has UK been ranked #1 Granted, Duke has done very well the past few years. I don't think anyone's denying you that. I believe my point had to do with consistently remaining a top team, didn't it? That's what you quoted me as saying. So let's look at Duke right after one of their most prosperous times--back-to-back championships in 91 and 92. Their record the next four seasons: 83-45. One other NCAA final, a second-round exit, a first-round exit, and a year they didn't make the tournament. Even Coach K had a few tough years. Once again, back to my point: no one has proven they can sustain top 3 or 5 success year in and year out. As long as you compare to the current top power, you'll always find faults.

All true TedRay80, but, Duke has been #1 at one time or the other during the season the last 6 years in a row, continually ranked somewhere in the top 10 while we wile away ranked somewhere in the top 20. we USED to NOT be that way. Kentucky is NOT the respected program it once was, nor could it ever be expected to be named the team of ANY DECADE as long as we continue to play to our opponents game. I want Tubby to succed rather you believe that or not because he IS the coach at the program I have supported for many, many years now, both as a FAN and Financially. It is hard to send money to a program anymore who pays a coach 1.5 million a year and he has someone else watching out for it while he runs around with NBA players and our recruiting suffers for it. I would like to see Tubby step up and take some responsibility for actions that are NOT the fault of the players instead of blaming them. I would also like to see him live up to WHAT he preach's to us fans year in and year out instead of falling back to a style that darn near every coach can beat if they have any outside game at all. THIS season I HAVE seen a remarkable difference in our defense because we have the players in place to run that type of D. However, we HAVE to stop teams from hitting over 50% like TENN*(##^&EE did last night because we are NOT going to be as lucky as we were last night. REASON WHY? We cannot depend on Camara every night out to bail us out like he did last night. Sure wish we could though. Some people have used the excuse that the SEC is stronger these days. SO what should WE do about that??? OUTRECRUIT them like we used to do because that is NOT acceptable. If that WERE the situation, then UK would continue to be a middle of the road team where we were ONCE FEARED by EVERY team and Rupp was NOT the best place to visit. NOW? ? Well, tubbys record speaks for itself. And. please don't use Pitino as any barometer because Tubby as SUPPOSED to LEARN under him and has not demonstrated that he learned that much

More comparison to the current top program in the nation. Isn't that what I just said will always be a way to find fault? You could have said most of the same things about Duke under Coach K in the mid-90's. Did that mean he was a bad coach? No. It meant no one can keep their teams in the top 10 all the time! Coach K didn't even get them to the Sweet 16 for several years in a row! Unless you're John Wooden, fluctuations happen. Don't think he's going to be applying for the job anytime soon. Oh, and for the record, last season was Tubby's only one to not finish top 10 in BOTH polls. More facts hurting your arguments.

Not to confuse the issue, but in the past 6 years don't we have exactly the same number of National Championships that dUKe had in the same period? Personally, I'd rather end the season ranked #20 and hang up a banner than be #1 and have nothing to show for it. Just MHO, of course.

How many teams do you see that are ranked #20 win a national championship?

Obviously you missed the point of my statement. The point is, being ranked #1 is all fine & well, but in the grand scheme of things, its pretty hollow if you don't get the title to go with your wonderful ranking.
