Doomed! yes Doomed! Come on guys, stop viewing everything through rose colored glasses. UK has not improved since Rick left and no one wants to admit it. I don't know what age group posts here but I am an old timer and can even remember the Rupp years when Kentucky Basketball struck fear in their opponents. Come on, admit he's not getting it done........... I'd like to agree with ya but I just cannot on this issue bro. Sure, Rick left the Cats after two consecutive trips to the finals so we had nowhere to go but down....albiet just a step or two.

Let me post this again for georgiawildcatfan - who I really believe is a GA Tech fan running down Tubby or a UGA fan still "mad" Tubby left!!!!!!! In reference to georgiawildcatfan and teamsj - you all come on here like "gangbusters" and all you do is "slam" Coach Smith - what do you expect - this IS a UK Wildcat Message Board!!!! I suppose what Chris has at the bottom: "It is as useless to argue with those who have renounced the use and authority of reason as to administer medication to the dead." --Thomas Jefferson is very appropriate!!!! Unrealistic expectations will drive one "nuts!!!!!!" Oh!!! And yes - Slick Rick's Offensive Tards were awesome against TCU - a whole 46 points!!!! Doomed!!! I don't think SO

I started watching the Cats in 1970 myself, and I remember Rupp through those days, but I also remember a different day in basketball then No 5/8 rules to limit recruiting, practice time was not limited the way it is today. College players were not jumping straight to the pro's then, not the way they do today anyway. College ball is so much more competitive today due to alot of these factors. Look at kansas,North Carolina,UCLA (big problems),and some of the other big schools, their losing more and more games as well, simply because the college game is more equal today than it was years ago. How many blow-outs do you see by 35-40 points any more. Back in the "Day", the Cats Dominated almost all SEC teams at one time or another , blowing out teams CONSTANTLY by 25-40 points.Did Pittino teams do that, constantly? No, because the game has changed. If the Cats play bad, I will be the first to say so, no rose colored glasses here, AT ALL ! But look at the Cats record over the time Tubby has been the coaches, and pull up All the big time schools over the same time, and then lets see what it looks like ! Duke, Carolina,Arizona,Kansas,,UCLA, Florida, Michigan St, Indiana,Notre Dame(how they have fallen since then),Louisville, go ahead, then lets talk about it some more. Man I couldn't agree more. I don't go back quite that far, but I certainly remember from about 76 on, and I'd say that other than the probation and rebuilding years this program has been as good if not better than any other program. That includes this season. We may lose in the first round, but we also have enough talent to win it all if our very young bench continues to improve.

I'd say that other than the probation and rebuilding years this program has been as good if not better than any other program. as stated by BC. Sutton had a losing season his last year!!! RP was 500 his first!!!! UK has never looked back from those 2 seasons!!!!! I guess I have to post this every year!!! 1966-67 13-13 Coach Rupp 1973-74 13-13 Joe B. 1988-89 13-19 Sutton 1989-90 14-14 RP *2001-2002 22-10 Coach Smith The "worst" seasons under UK Coaches!!! I have been listening to UK BB since the 1958 Team - and WE are the Premier Program in the NCAA - when you are the "winningest" Team in NCAA History and have 7 National Championships - yes - "this program has been as good, if not better than any other program" An "UNDERSTATEMENT" - to say the least

Some will always try to find a way to down the Cats. It doesn't matter who the coach is there are those that will say we are doomed with this guy or that at the helm. I would venture to say that people would say the same thing if you were our coach, but we know you'd take us to the final four, and beyond because you understand the rich tradition of UK, and would not let it down. Neither will Tubby, or this group of guys we have right now. Sutton's last year was a dibacle because of the trouble, and that's understandable, Ricks first year was one of rebuilding again understandable. These two years were exceptions to the Kentucky rule. Even todays college game with the parity that we see Kentucky is always on or near the top in the SEC, and NCAA. Did we just agree on something

All I might add is, I am from Texas,,,,, and I have been waiting for a basketball team to arrive for years. If the Longhorns would have had a team comparable to the Wildcats, say over the last 15, 20 years (or more), any talk of a meltdown, such that I have read sometimes around here, We Texans would dismiss those people as having just been out in the sun way too long. :)I can help you. Get the rope!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TB, I agree with what you just said. There are 320 other teams that wish they could have a history comparable to the Cats. Tubby has maintained UK's winning tradition since he's been here. So many other teams in the nation would do anything to get Tubby as their coach.
