Geez, It looks like the ole' Hot Tub is cookin again! I haven't been checking it out lately and it looks like I've missed a lot. Everybody knows that I haven't always been a huge fan of Coach Smith , but to insist that he needs to pursue other avenues in response to four losses on the year is rather harsh. ???Sure, we're on a little down. But the season "ain't ova yet." It's about time to resurrect the "COMEBACK CATS" to silence the crowd! If there's anyone that's been known for negativety, I'm guilty...... but, I ain't negative just yet. And to say that we have become an "average" program is unreal. As of tonight, we've got 5 more regular season games left......that's five more victories and another SEC Championship! CHINS-UP!! IMHO, feeling that we're on a down year with four losses is a privaledge. And, by the way, saying "wait till next year" seems to be a popular and exciting thing to say these days. I can hardly wait for next year's team! HUGE BABY!!!!! MBH, I simply must say that was an awesome post. I remember very well some of your earlier rants about Tubby, but you also were able to articulate your reasons for those rants. While I didn't always agree with you, I respected you. And the post I quoted above...excellent indeed! Its time for the Cats to roll on into March!

Style of play has reverted back to the old bump and grind. Some may like these low scoring defensive games but I would rather watch an up and down game. Winning kind of makes stomaching the style a little easier though.
Will be interesting to see these kids coming in (Crawford, Rondo, Bradley, etc) who seem to have the impression that the Cats are an uptempo pressing team. Wonder if they watch any of our games? Somebody is a helluva salesman. Will also be interesting to see if Tubby changes style to suit his talent.

Just my opinion, but I think he will change his style a bit with the new talent he will have. I certainly hope it is a better shooting team, which should open things up for Tubby to change things. And yes, an up tempo game is much more exciting.

I don't care what kind of style you play. You've got a 50% chance to win the game whether you play run and gun or whether you play the grind it out style.
Looked like running and gunning hasn't helped Louisville win very many games lately. What about Duke(2 game losing streak) and UConn(just snapped a 20-game losing streak). Playing full court hasn't helped them much lately.

They put this on the screens at the game last night: The last time a team scored over 100 points on UK was in 1993.....NEVER has that happened in the Tubby Era. That is what a great defensive team will do. They also put something on the screen....UK has won 432(around that number) out of their last 48 games. You do the math!

Thanks, 4TLOT44, for having my back, bro. I meant UConn just snapped a 2-game losing streak. TB, I'm proud of myself; I've just had my very first senior moment!
Chris, those stats are astonishing. Never has anyone ever hung up 100 on Tubby. It just proves that age old adage: offense gets people in the seats, defense wins the championships.
But, hey, I think Chris just had a senior moment also TB. He said UK has won 432 of it's last 48 games. That's a 900% winning percentage.

Look at it both ways-you hold the ball for most of the 35 seconds you are allowed and the opponent does the same-UK 71 ppg, opp 64 ppg. DEfensive numbers are great. Winning % is excellent, but the SEC has proven to be watered down last year as compared to its rep. This year our OOC schedule has not been great and the SEC won't do much in the Dance again imo. BTW of the 6-1 record vs the top 25 how many are still in the top 25? Most of the SEC got there as a result of no OOC schedule thus the great preseason records.
The proof of Tubby will be when he has more than 1 FF in 13 years; maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't. The last I looked this is the main stepping stone to winning the NCAA. You can have the greatest winning % in the world but if you don't get to the FF, you can't win it all.

So, is it our faullt that we scheduled IU and Michigan State(traditional powers) and now they suck this season? Where are Vandy, USC, and UF now, KTB? Where are the othe top 25 teams we played now? UL barely there now, UNC also barely there. MSU is the only team we have played that's a threat to go beyond the sweet 16 imo. All I am is stating facts. We are playing better, but does a 17 point win vs the worst in the West, 6 point loss vs the worst in the East and a 10 point win versus a weak Alabama guarantee us a FF berth? UK can be very good some nights but very average others.
