Even more: On Tuesday, January 25, 2005, the 100 greatest college basketball programs of all time were announced in a special issue of Street & Smith's magazine. Street & Smith's magazine used 15 categories to determine the top 100, including NCAA and NIT appearances and wins, conference championships and tournament championships, graduation rates, all-time winning percentages, and NBA first-round draft picks. For each school, we provide a link to their main website and their official sports site. We also list the school's nickname. athensohio.net/sports/basketball/100-greatest/And, YES, UK is at the top of the list again.....article written only 6 months ago.

I would have probably found a way to add the Brezlin Center (SP?) at Michigan State to the list. I suggested in another thread that UK redo their seating to allow more of the students down on the floor to make the atmosphere a lot better, and to cut down on the empty seats the rich boosters leave down low. I imagine it will have much the same reaction here as it did there, with the average age here being pretty high.
At least some of you have seen a Led Zeppelin concert in their prime (something I will never be able to do).

Try Harry Chappin with a youngster named Bruce Springstein opening for him. - that's old (like 1975)

A couple of bands named "The Grass Roots' and "Strawberry Alarm Clock" opened for Jimi. Now that was like 1969, maybe 1970.

Zeppelin and the Beatles are the two I would have liked to see the most, although I definately would have enjoyed Hendrix. Then again I have seen some that I'm sure my kids will be Jealous of (at least if they have good taste in music). The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, The Darkness, Muse, Counting Crows, Aerosmith, Kiss, John Mayer, OAR, Def Leapard, Chevelle, and a couple more I am embarrassed about seeing (Britney Spears because my mom hooked us up with tickets to meet her). I don't think I'm doing too bad in the concert department. Still, I would have given up all of those except the Chili Peppers to see Zeppelin or the Beatles.

I have been going to concerts since about 1977 when I was 12 and I have to say that the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert I got to attend a few years ago was one of the best.
Lots of people who are not all that familiar with the RHCP don't realize what tremendous musicianship exists in that band.
I had 9th row on the floor...center...pretty daggone good...at Rupp...for the RHCP show. The guys had not one bit of arrogance about them...they were just like they were one of us (the audience). I find that trait appealing.
And they left nothing onstage...they gave every ounce of blood, sweat, and tears they had to give in their performance. That is a cool thing too. I left that show thinking, "Man, these guys gave us our money's worth for sure."
Probably some of the more notable shows I got to see was Fleetwood Mac on the Rumours Tour AND The Eagles on the Hotel California Tour...both in 1977.
It would take me some time to list all of the great ones I have been fortunate enough to see live. Oh. The Stones twice. Unfortunately, I did not get to see Lez Zeppelin before John Bonham's death. I had to settle for seeing Page and Plant on their tour. Don't get me wrong...that was great. But it still was not Led Zeppelin.
Peace Out...

Great concert both times. #4, I respect your opinion about seating students down low around the arena, but totally disagree with that. As far as the rich boosters leaving seats empty, not very many empty seats from what I have seen. UK has the largest fan base, of any college, that follow the team around the country because of those rich boosters and that would be nothing short of insulting to just move them. The eruption zone is one thing, but having that around the floor would be a bit much to take. I remember the loud chants of so and so is gay, so and so sucks, with all those students just feeding off each other without thinking or realizing how they are really representing the University.

For the bad games, there are definately a LOT of empty seats near the bottom. I don't see any change happening with the order of the seating, but you can bet that when we get a new arena (whenever that may be), there will be a lot more students close to the floor.
As for "Walsh is Gay". I don't think I've ever heard a more stupid chant. If I was him, I know I would be gay all the way back to my gorgeous playmate of a girlfriend. still, that was an exception and not the rule. Our students are no worse than the students at other schools (a lot of which have them all right on the floor). I think that atmosphere would be changed for the better even if they just doubled the eRUPPtion zone into the other endzone. Right now, I think it is a lost cause arguing for it, but I definately think Rupp would be a more fun place for everyone with the energy of the students less crammed into the rafters.
As for the Chili peppers, yeah, they are amazing. If there is one weakness in the band, it is Anthony Keidis, the singer. The other three are nothing short of musical genius. The Slain Castle DVD is definately something you should consider buying if you are a fan. It really is amazing.

By the way, I forgot to list a lot of the funny Hip-hop concerts that I saw on spring break. Busta Rhymes, Talib Kwali, Common, Fabolous, Akon, and Nappy Roots have all been seen by me, which is hilarious, because I don't ever listen to Hip-hop and rap. Maybe there are some fans of it out there.

It's still very rare that we lose at Rupp. I don't see how we could possibly do much better with a change to Rupp. If you've been winning 90% of your home games since 1977 something tells me "if it ain't broke don't fix it." I can see the benefit of having a "Cameron Indoor" or "O-Dome" feel, but I think what we have his unique as well. We don't have to modernize Rupp to keep up with Joneses... we are the Joneses!!!

I think he will win his second in the next 5 years. I wouldn't put it past him if he went all the way this year.

If Tubby wins another national title, it would put him in exclusive company: Knight, Coach K, and Calhoun are the only ones that I think have multiple titles that are actively coaching. I think a second national title would put the stamp on a Hall-of-Fame career. I wonder what some UK fans would do if (and when Lordwilling) Tubby wins a second national title. What then would the complaint be?

The problem is the Jones aren't coming to watch Tennessee, or Vanderbilt because they are on their yacht in the Mediterranean, while there are plenty of students who would wait in line for hours for those same tickets.
I sat in the middle, about 8 rows up (45 yard line if we're comparing it to a football field) for the Georgia game this year, and I felt like I could've heard a pin drop around me. They were the most amazing seats I have ever sat in, but the experience was not that great. One lady yelled at me to sit down at one time. I think she could have sat on her couch at home and watched the game, and I wasn't even standing that much. There were empty seats all around me, and the people that gave us the tickets said they wouldn't have used them if we didn't.
Are these the people that we are really worried about moving back 5 rows on one side? And yeah, I know it really sounds like I'm just being selfish, being a student myself, but I think everyone would be surprised how much such a small thing would improve the atmosphere inside of Rupp (The best college basketball BUILDING in the country).
