It really is ridiculous to act like Tubby doesn't get criticism and P did and in fact, I don't think SHS even believes that because he spends a lot of time at DD where he knows better because he sees the criticism there daily....
Keep ;D

i dont care who picks on who. but i am a huge uk fan, wondering how Tubby ever got this job. every uk fan i talk to would love to see Tubby out the door. but we cant get rid of him cause the racism factor. i believe if every uk fan were to vote, Tubby would be voted off the island. i know uk can not win every game, but i would at least like to see them give some kinda effort to win. i think the lack of enthusiam in our ball players comes from our coach. not not mention the eddie sutton style of ball we play cant help the team. what ever happened to rondo getting his wish to press??? the paper said that wish was gonna happen. still the same old slow boring Tubby ball if u ask me. Tubby smith is a classy guy, but class wont win number 8. Tubby smith is a great coach... for georgia. send him packing!
now i cant wait for this post to get bashed and tell me that uk doesnt need fans like me. but the truth is if all the fans like me werent fans any more, kinda doubt youd see rupp arena sell out every game.

That's a fair reply except for the fact that Tubby is not being kept because of his race. He is being kept because he has done a good job and had an excellant record.

The program is in good hands. UK basketball has not gone downhill and all of your " Bla, bla, bla. " wont change that. compare and contrast 1998, and 2005, and reassess your statement.

I would support Riley coming to coach here. I would give Tubby this year and next to win it all or ask him to step aside. I think that is a reasonable and rational decision. Even if it were planned and people were aware of it, the publicity and recruiting would be positive. It would also be an honorable way for Tubby to part. Those of you who want Tubby's head on a platter are dreaming......... a smooth transition is a must.

You think giving the winningest coach of the last three years who also happens to have an outstanding record acedemically with his players and has been an upstanding member of the community an ultimatum stating win it all this year or next or your fired is reasonable and rational.

Yes I do. Tubby always says that Kentucky makes the coach. He is quite humble concerning his position and place in college basketball. He understands that Fans expect results and not performing means to step aside. I am not suggesting he be fired, I am suggesting that if we don't get the results that fans expect, he should step aside. He understands this and I think that it should be a smooth transition. I am aware of Tubby's contributions to Lexington area and beyond. Unfortunately, that is only half of the game. The other half is winning titles and at least having the chance to compete for one. I also stated that I was in favor of this if Pat Riley wanted the job. That way, the smooth transition could occur.

No one gets a free pass. Not Pitino, not Tubby, not even Rupp if he were still alive. Everyone is held accountable by good fans IMO.
What is it with some wanting Riley here as coach. What makes any of you think he'd be a great coach. Sure he's had some success with the lakers, but good grief look who he had on the team.
He wasn't that spectacular with the heat, and I'm not sure he could do the job. Why not go after an established coach if Tubby isn't cutting it.
Right now I'm not on the Tubby bandwagon, and I think that if we don't make it to the ff this year that he has to go, but I don't know that Riley would be on the short list.

Pitino wasn't a great coach at the next level either. College hoops is different and we all know that. I like Riley for three reasons - He knows the tradition and expectations. He knows the game as well as anyone. And finally, his connections and experience in the NBA would help him recruit the BIG name players. Players that want to play in the nba know that he can get them there. I will continue to support Tubby, but if he doesn't do something BIG this year or the next, he needs to realize this and step aside.

That's a fair reply except for the fact that Tubby is not being kept because of his race. He is being kept because he has done a good job and had an excellant record. The excellant record does not equate to doing a good job. I would rather see our record have fewer wins if it meant more final fours. You can't win #8 if you keep losing in the Sweet16 or Elite 8. Tubby needs to take this team to the promised land with his players or go back to a Tulsa or Georgia where they don't expect final 4s from their coach.

Pat Riley is perhaps one of the five most respected coaches alive: Phil, Riley, Wooden, Brown and Rat Face.
Any kid would love to play for him. Michael Jordan said he'd play for Pat Riley. Alonzo Mouring loved him; Lamar Odom loved him; Ewing loved him; Magic loved him; Worthy loved him; etc.
Most people realize that Riley would get all sorts of talent. Oh, and speaking of pro to college transition: talk to Charlie Weiss at Notre Dame. I'm sure he can give you some positive feedback.
