Rondo's coach almost suggesting the current troubles are Tubby's doing. Thankfully Rondo is being a class act and trying to do what the coach wants, but sounds like the coach doesn't know yet what he wants. Not the greatest news. www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/sports/13402489.htm

this article just reinforces what some of us have been saying for at least the last 3 or 4 years.
A key quote from the article that sums up the problem:
"He's (Rondo) really discouraged. When you feel like you have the ability to do things, but it's not what the coach wants to do, for any kid, that can discourage you."

I'm afraid the top is about to blow off this thing. It's apparent to just about everyone that Tubby has a real dilemma with this team.
Play to their strengths or continue to force the issue.
Almost looks like a no win situation for his ego, but there can certainly be a winning situation for the team if Tubby will just swallow some pride and realize that there are more ways to play than his alone.

BC, I really think that Tubby and his Staff don't know how to adapt.
I believe Tubby knows that the Game Plan needs to change but I don't think he knows how to pull it off.
And Tubby's ego won't allow him to seek help from others or the players themselves.
It's really sort of ironic in that a guy like Pitino has his ego out there for everyone to see but a "passive aggressive" guy like Tubby tries to hide his ego in public by being Mr Nice Guy.
BTW, is your spell check working?

Yes, my spell check is working.........I think. I checked my last post and it said I had no misspelled words. So either it's working or both the spell check and I are wrong. ;D

i think that hits the nail on the head. i dont really think the word ego is correct, although that is what has been tossed around for so long. i agree with most of what golf said, Tubby knows that he needs to change things up to play to this team's strengths, but its a style of play he's never really implemented before, and doesn't feel quite comfortable with it. i just dont think he has an ego that forces him to play a certain way. plus, if i were Tubby, my "ego" would be hurt after the way we've started the season, to the point that i dont know if i'd have an ego anymore.

that said, im very glad that rondo doesn't have an attitude problem like some of our past all americans. very classy that he's not calling players out by name for taking it easy in practice, and that he's not calling out the coach in the media. it would be very easy for him to be full of himself after reading the press clippings about him.
this is also weighing in on my wavering support of Tubby, you've got a clear star in the making, who is also a very smart kid with the ball. why not let him do what he is capable of? i dont think its Tubby's ego that is forcing rondo to play within the system, i really feel that Tubby thinks his system is the best way for us to be a good team in the long run. Tubby could emulate roy's style over at unc, and we might have picked up another win or two, but in the end i feel that uk will be better than unc come march and we'll go farther this year. i dont necessarily think that of iu, they probably are just better than us.
i think Tubby isn't worried about wins and losses at this point, he wants the team to mature and come together. i just wish Tubby would be more compromising with his system.
