7..... Few has been at Zaga for 7 years and only made 2 sweet 16 appearances. That doesn't cut it for the hype he gets.
I'd like to thank everyone for NOT listing Jim Harrick or Jim Calhoun. We should only hire them if we want BACK on probation.

I'd also have to heavily consider Bo Ryan from Wisconsin.

I'd also have to heavily consider Bo Ryan from Wisconsin. stagger, I believe there are some really good coaches like Ryan and Herb Sendek but their slower tempo game would not be acceptable to many Kentucky fans that want more excitement.

I'll pass on Herb. Besides, can we really get any slower?

Hey Golf, good call on Bruce Webber. He completely slipped my mind. I might have to replace him for Paul Hewett. weber wont leave the Illini that program is close if not on elite status now

i really like thad matta. i feel as if rick barnes hasn't proved himself year in and year out with a program that has recieved a lot of national attention. he doesnt really play that much uptempo, and his past teams were right on par with Tubby's in terms of scoring per game.
i think mark few is overrated for the reasons stagger listed above even though adam morrison is the best player in the nation. i like pat riley, and izzo but doubt he would leave. i just cant think of many coaches that would actually come to uk that i like better than Tubby.

Rick Barnes has had everything at his fingertips at Texas that he would have at UK and has not done much. I personally do not think this would be an upgrade of coaching. A lot of the names on the list wouldn't be an upgrade either, they would just be a new style of play. Many of these guys could give two farts about winning during the regular season as long as they are ready at the end of the season and some have been beaten by much more than 27 in the last two years. How is that going to sit with our fan base? If we are going to lose Tubby we should at least upgrade our coaching. That means to me no Donavan, no Crean, no Hewitt, no Barnes. Some of the other names would hardly be upgrades either. I would also expect that we get someone young who could coach here for the next 20 years or so and brings an exciting style of play and can recruit well. These requirements eliminate a lot of names on these lists. The names I would go with are: Thad Matta (probably ain't going anywhere though because he has a chance to build own dynasty) Lorenzo Romar (may come and would bring lots of excitment also would help stem any racist backlash from firing Tubby) Jay Wright (if he came next year he would be right at home with his 4 guard lineup since we will have about 10 of them) Those are my thoughts.

As for Mark Few, I seriously question taking a coach from Gonzaga and putting them in the pressure cooker that is coaching at UK. Plus he has no tourney sucess to speak of.

I am beginning to slide Rick Barnes off my list in that he has had some real opportunities to have great seasons but has not.
I believe that those of you that have not seen Tom Crean of Marquette and the teams that he produces are missing a great option. - they are also pretty up paced and high tempo and seem to have fun playing for him.
Crean is also from the Izzo line of assistant coaches.

Yeah, Tom Crean did a nice job in the NIT last year. He is white tho. Some people would be all over that.

You seem to bring it up as much as anyone. I just see Crean as a rising coach and Tubby as a bad coach. - skin color in NOT a prerequisite for me.

i look at tom crean as a guy that was extremely lucky to have a talent like dwyane wade and has done absolutely nothing without him. i just dont see what any of these coaches named have accomplished to warrant the job at uk.

The right man for UK may not be anyone that has been mentioned here. It doesn't necessarily take a guy that has been successful at another school to be the man for the job. First and foremost we need someone that loves the game, and loves teaching and motivating more than anything else. You get someone that loves teaching kids that has a solid background in basketball with some connections to the NBA and you've got your man. Put those requirements on the application and see who shows up.

Didn't Crean's team beat UK to go to the final four?? Besides what did Tubby do at Tulsa and Georgia? Sweet 16's wasn't it. So the same could be said about Tubby too. What did he do to warrant the job?

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Kevin O'neill! Pat Riley is the only coach that can make us the best team in the country. Think of all the recruits he would bring in. We'd have showtime in the bluegrass for sure.
