John Pelphrey, one of my all-time favorites Wildcats, continues to make a name for himself at a school with a less-than-stellar basketball tradition. He guided South Alabama to a 25-7 record and an NCAA Tournament bid last season (when USA lost to Florida in the opening round). With heavy losses to graduation, Pelphrey's team started slowly this season but has gone on an 11-game winning streak. The Jaguars are now 18-7 and lead the Sun Belt Conference standings.

When Tubby steps down, he will be offered the job. Only hope he takes it.

why no love for Billy D ... or is it cause were playing Florida Plenty of love for Billy, but he's not a former Cat, and many want someone from home if they are qualified. Billy has it made at Florida, and there is little reason for him to leave. It would take a very sweet deal to lure Billy D to Kentucky IMO. Pelphrey, or Ford on the other hand could be had for much less money initially.

Pelphrey and Ford are nothing compared to Billy D

Billy D is the best option at this point in time imo. He has grown great as a bench coach in the last few years. Bringing in Shyatt as a defensive coach was a great move. Billy has stepped back and analyzed his weaknesses and made moves to correct them. Tubby is too stubborn to see any problems.
Back to Pelphrey, I really don't think he is ready for a UK program right now but like Donovan he is a smart man and will grow into a viable candidate. Always loved Pelphrey as a player-blue to the bone-but is he ready now? Don't think so.

As it stands now, he does not have to be ready NOW. He has until 2012. By that time he should have the experience needed. Him or Ford would be great. Billy will not leave Florida for UK now matter what they offer. Why would he? If he moves on, it will be for the NBA which will be a great loss for the collegiate game.

For everyone saying that Billy D would not leave Florida for Kentucky, listen for a second. Look what Larry Brown did with the pistons, and what did he do? He left for the Knicks. Why would Billy D not leave for UK?

Why would Billy D not leave for UK? Because he's a God if Florida. He could become a God in Kentucky or he could become the next whipping boy. (not speaking in literal terms btw)
