THE DOWNSIDE to the Mountaineers' unexpected success this season? The inevitability of more Beilein-leaving-WVU rumors. You have to wonder, however, what good jobs might be available. The most intriguing possibility is at Kentucky. No, no -- there's no rumblings about this. We're just applying some old-fashioned logic. The annual "Tubby Smith has to go" watch is on. Fans grumbled with the Wildcats' 22-13 record a year ago, and UK this year is 18-6, with back-to-back road games ahead tonight against Tennessee and Alabama. That's followed by games versus LSU, at Vanderbilt, versus Georgia and at No. 1 Florida to finish the season. Worst-case scenario? UK is 20-10, 9-7 in the Southeastern Conference and limping into postseason play. That heat under Smith's seat could get too hot, and you just know that some big-ticket program is going to make a run at Beilein sooner than later. UK would be too good a job to pass up no matter who you are ... or high the buyout is. www.dailymail.com/story/Sports/WVU+Sports/2007021356/One-pundit-has-Mountaineers-as-eighth-seed

I don't know if this qualifies as a rumor. More like speculation.

No way. WVU only scores 73 ppg. That is less than we score. He is also not a great recruiter. He has never gotten a 4 star player. We don't need another slow paced coach that isn't a good recruiter. We have one right now, and look how well that is working out.

Beilein is an excellent coach for the talent he has. No Mickey D's or Parade AA's and he is still competitive in the Big East. Hard to say where his recruiting would be at UK...... Doesn't score a lot of points but there is a lot of movement in his offense, we could do a whole lot worse.

UK will never go after Beilein Why not? i just think that he would be on the bottom of the list. There are many coaches i would rather have over Beilein. Beilein is a good coach though

There are other coaches I'd like to have over him too, but Barnhardt might think him to be the right person when all things are considered.

Why would Barnhardt think Beilein was the right coach? To keep UK football and basketball on the same level?
UK deserves better, can get better, and should get better without any problem.
If Beilein were to come in, he'd certainly have to have some nice assistants to help out with the recruiting.

I wont start to look for any coaches until after the season and find out what happens with the one we have. While I dont see any head coaching changes, I do think some of the assistants may be gone. I dont really mind Tubby as the coach, ( that was a mouthfull ),I just wish he were not so inflexable and would hire an offensive minded coach. The slow offense is the main problem. We have made the effort to move faster this year, but we still stand around way too much.

Seems like we get the ball up the court quicker than we did at times last year...but now we have no idea what to do with it or how to get a good look at the basket. Not like that happened last year or anything, Kentucky hasn't really had a solid offense for a number of years.

Bielien may not be the right coach? IMHO the 1-3-1 zone should be used more often though. It is the hardest zone to prepare for and one of the hardest to get the right people. You need a very hard working and aggressive person on the base line. If you get that it is a great Defense.
At UK he would not have trouble finding the athletic ability for his coaching that is for sure.

I'm just saying that Barnhardt might.
