Don't see it being he's never won an NCAA Tournament game yet as a HC.. That said, I wouldn't mind because he's a great recruiter and knows all too well the tradition and expectations....

Who else would come here knowing all about the high expectations and history. Pelphrey may not be ready right now, but I for one would take him and let him find his way. He has been an assistant under some pretty good people, and knows how to recruit. I would rather have him than Marquetts coach, or WV coach, or anyone else out there.

If Donavon stays get his and Pitino's man Pelphrey. What's the worst he could do get good recruits and lose 10 games a year, or get 4 year guys and lose 10 games a year. ;D

I agree with CatDaddy. You guys are wanting to give the keys to the program to a guy without a single NCAA tourney win and are willing to "let him find his way"!!!! WTF! Are you just wanting 10 loss seasons under a different coach? I want the program turned around NOW, not in 5 years, NOW!!! Just because Pelphrey played at UK doesn't mean you give him the keys to the kingdom because you're unhappy with the current state of affairs! The argument that he, "knows the expectations" is just stupid. We're talking about KENTUCKY......the expectations are just understood to anyone who pays a little bit of attention. Being a former UK player shouldn't mean more than say, multiple sweet 16/elite 8 rankings or extended runs in the top 15. Don't let your desperation to ditch Tubby make you pick an unsuitable replacement. If we can't get Billy D, maybe it's time we cut ties with the Pitino coaching tree.

No way on Pelphrey. Great guy, great coach, but not UK calliber yet. Give him 10 years though to prove he can win at a higher level and I could see him or Travis Ford taking the reins.

He has done well in the Sun Belt, but that is a WEAK conference. He may be the man in a few years, but not now.

Hey stagger, I am a UK grad and I know the expectations and I have won just as many NCAA tournament games as he has. Do you think they would hire me.

If Pelphrey were to be hired now as UK head coach now, that would be a complete slap in the face to all UK basketball fans.

Not yet. Too many unknowns IMO. EXACTLY What if Pelphrey took South Alabama to the Sweet 16 next month? Would that change your mind? I don't know one way or the other.
