Has anyone ever thought that this whole Tubby thing P's fault. Rick was always trying to pull off stunts in the media. Coach Locks hire (first female assistant coach) and then pulling Tubby in for the coach at UK (first Black Headcoach at UK Basketball). I was think of this while reading one of the Ville's fan boards. Just wondered if you guys ever considered this. Before you throw me under the bus... I support Tubby and think he is the answer and will turn this around. Earlier this year he said we were a young team. Even SaulsHair guy put this at the bottom of his post's. I think we can all see that Tubby knew back then he had nothing in his upper classmen and the Freshmen are the heart and soul of this team. That enough for now, Thanks

I think you need to read Sauls message a little closer.

Everyone but a few people (i was one of the few) thought that Tubby would turn it around after last season. But, guess what? He hasn't. We also have no talent coming in next year, unless we can count on Tubby's recruiting, which we can't. It will not get better next year. It will not get better while Tubby is here.

I'd like to leave this in the main forum, but I can't in good conscience.
If we are going to talk about Smith outside the context of the season or the present, we need to do it in the Hot Tub. Otherwise, there is no reason to have it, and we can just go back to being like every other message board on the 'net.
That goes for "I support Tubby" as well as "I hate Tubby".

I think that he can turn this around. I don't think the fans or the school will give him the time to do it. When you look at the recruiting and compare it to the 10 year history there is a corrrelation that would give you reason to think that he could.
Our last two senior classes came in on the heels of a team turmoil. OTS signed players who could get along with each other but were not so highly skilled as BB players. That did not work. So then he tried to upgrade the skill level and maintain the team spirit. We got this junior class and we got a couple of transfers with our soph class. Those were improvements but still not there in quality and attitude.
Not we have the third generation with these freshmen and some recruits that have talent plus are team players. IMO, these freshmen and recruits are the key to turning it around but we won't give OTS the time to do it. Some hot shot young coach will come in and look like a savior. Then in about 3-4 years, the program will fall on its face and everyone will say, "WHAT HAPPENED"?
When Smith leaves, it will be very critical that we hire someone at least as good. Otherwise, we will be hiring again in about 4 years, and again, and again until we get it right. In 12-15 years, everyone will say, see I told you that we could hire someone better than coach xxxxxxx.

I think the whole plan for Rick was to get a mediocre coach in here try the NBA and if that did not work out to come back to UK, but Tubby won a national title and Poor RICKEY had no place to go. SO THEN he took a job with UL to show UK fans a thing or two........ WOW !!! I can't type anymore laughing to hard....... ;D
