Let's go on record right here, right now. Before Kentucky plays Florida today in Gainesville. Before the Cats open SEC Tournament play on Thursday. Before the Cats head on to their 15th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance next week. Whatever happens the rest of the season makes no difference. Tubby Smith should return as Kentucky's basketball coach. No ifs, ands or buts about it. www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/sports/16830163.htm

I hate it when people write articles about how great Tubby is, but don't mention anything but the 2003 season. They don't mention the recruiting, or any of the bad things.

While I dont often place any credence into what anyone on ESPN says, I would agree with this article. Coach Smith DOES deserve the chance to correct the troubles of the program. Let us not forget the whole body of work the man has done. We have focused on the last 2 years, and rightfully so. I think he is smart enough to understand what the problems are and correct them. Let the man try and work through this period. Every team, college or pros, has its ups and downs and the fans get all excited about losing. ( Me included ). I would really feel awful if someone of Mr. Smiths integrity, honesty, and all he has done for the University was fired and not given the opportunity to make things right. Please do not get me wrong, as I have been screaming for a change the loudest. But, after sitting back and letting my emotions cool, I now think just the opposite.

He said he would correct the problems last year. That was a lie. He didn't do a single thing to change how we play. Every year he says that we will be doing something different, but it never happens. he was going to change his coaching staff, he was going to play a faster tempo. We didn't do any of that. he has lied to the fans' faces too many times and i am sick of it.

Nothing changed from last season. We are basically right where we were last season. The last week of the season and the possibility of missing the tournament a real possibility, and the team is playing lousy. All too familiar. Tubby has had his chance and he's shown no willingness to do anything of significance to change that.

See, in 10 seasons he already has 3 second round finishes. He has lost 10 or more games 5 times. This also doesn't reflect recruiting, which is a huge issue. We will also lose more games this season than we did last season, after he promised we would never have another season like that again. He also hasn't been to a final 4 since i was 6. I am now 15.

We will also lose more games this season than we did last season. Not quite. I already factored in a loss in the SEC and one in the NCAA's because I already know we won't win either.

Personally, I'm focassing on more than just the last two years. No, I do not believe the man is smart enough to a.)understand what the problems are or b.)correct them or c.)hire the people who are smart enough to fix our problems. Wake up people! You're just gonna lull yourselves back into complacencey again. Don't believe for a moment that it's all gonna be just fine next year by wish for your recruits and hoping that our hero is one of them. Look at the facts! Look at the trends! We are going to finally reach a point where we will have major difficulty rebounding back. Top teams become that way and remain that way by being PROACTIVE! Coach Smith is a nice guy, so is my pastor. IT's time that Coach Smith was a nice guy for some other program. People, don't go back and become one of the mindless flock again who don't remember what it was like to respected and feared! Wake up and stay awake! BE UK Wildcats again!

We got lucky last time when kentucky had to rebound. We got Rick pitino, who was able to turn us around almost as soon as he got here. It might not be that easy next time.

I hate to bring up this guys name but let's do a little comparing.................Tubby 10 years at UK 5 with 10 or more losses and 1 9 loss season, here it is please don't shoot the messenger, Coach K 26 years at Duke 6 with ten or more losses and 3 nine loss seasons. with 4 of his 10 or more seasons coming in his first 4 years so basicly only 2 10 lossers in 22 years. That is why he is a great coach and Tubby is not.

I for one feel that Tubby has been given a chance to correct his problems and he has failed. What changes were made that Tubby said would right the ship since last year. Two that I can think of: 1 He hired a new Strength Coach (which hasn't shown any better results in rebounding and endurance). 2 He chased off one of his top players that turned out to be a first round draft pick in the NBA. He was suppose to be the one hurting the team. He had Sims and a guard leave that didn't get any playing time. What do we have to show for his great changes? We will end our season with one less loss than last year. Considering all of his great changes then looking ahead to next year things still look bleak even if we get Patterson and Lucas. Freshmen don't win games for you. Why would anyone think that we are going to get these 2 players with all the controversy over Tubby? Why would a short point guard want to play Tubby ball. Just like he said he needs to have a fast paced game to be to his advantage. We all know that will never happen while Tubby is here. My concerns or more with the future of UK Basketball. My feelings about next year are that we will not get Patterson or Lucas. Morris will stay. The program will be in worse shape than this year with another Very Poor recruiting class and we hit bottom in 2009 if Tubby stays with nothing but a bunch of Mid Major players to help Meeks and Jasper.
