I remember Kentucky basketball the most, during our probation years. It was tough times and remember the sports illustrated magazine with our storied program as its front page news. Pitino came and restoed our program from the ashes and had the program on a high unlike any other. Even I admit we could only go down fron there, we were on the TOP of the world in basketball terms. I was proud of all those players, all of them played hard. I just wished I could see more players with heart like Richie Farmer, and could mention so many other players easily. But times have changed, players have changed, recruiting has changed, and I don't want to sound as though I know this process, beacuse I don't from a professional stand point only a fan. But Tubby to his credit won a National Title, but we could also mention other coaches that have won one title that aren't even in the game anymore, and in my opinion, those were Rick Pition's guys anyway. Remember we pressed in those days. We ran the floor and we dunked on people...... we were the Cadillac of basketball then, but not now. We don't recruit well, that is apparent, and I think Tubby has been here to long, and it has all caught up with him. Don't get me wrong, l like Tubby Smith, I now live only 5 miles from where he was born, and started coaching, I talk to people all the time. I like him, I just think he has been here too long, 10 yrs at KY, is like 20 yrs anywhere else, dog yrs. and I hope we can turn this around, we can.... I just think its time for a change, a new mind, new youth to the picture and some energy to us and other KY fans across the country. Its alot to think about but , its my opinion and beiing a KY fan and son, I think I am entitled to one message.
