If you really want to read the gist of it without having to register for their board, read about it here.If I were you, I wouldn't bet any money on this rumor. These guys don't have a very good track record, in my opinion. [NOTE**] Bad link fixed

Don't know Smith personally. He has a reputation for loyalty, but also for sober judgment. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that UK is currently underperforming. I think Smith can see it, also.

It kind of puts Tubby behind the 8 ball as well. If he lets his staff get fired and they take the hit.... WHO WOULD WANT TO COME HERE!!! and coach with him. Especially if they don't improve then Tubby is gone. Then the new assistants are out after just 1 year if the new coach doesn't like them or wants his own.
If Tubby walks he shows loyalty and where ever he goes assistants will love to work with him knowing he will stand up for them. Maybe Barney and Todd have given Tubby a graceful way of getting out and keeping his integrity.
I think this story may be right as rain. ( Wishful thinking on my part I am sure ).
At the sweet sixteen tourney today, Tubby said he had not spoken to Mitch or Lee about anything and a meeting was later in the week. According to some radio folks.

Maybe Barney and Todd have given Tubby a graceful way of getting out and keeping his integrity. Loyalty is a two-way street. If you were an assistant, would you hang around and force your coach and mentor to walk away from a job he loves, especially when any objective analysis would suggest that you, the assistant, were underperforming more than the coach? If Smith walks away from a job he loves and $5M dollars because his assistants refuse to leave on their own to save his position, his integrity would not be an issue - his business savvy and common sense would. But the integrity of the assistants who helped force him into that decision would certainly be in dispute.
