An interesting thing happened to me 2 days ago while assembling my daughters trampoline. Just as I was finishing with the springs, I noticed my little daughter sitting down looking at the ground.
At first I thought she was looking at a bug or something. WRONG.
My wife and I walk over to her to see what she was doing. We were shocked to find a little burrow with 4 baby rabbits.
The hole couldn't have been more than 2-3 inches deep and I just mowed the grass the day before. Thank God I didn't mangle them with the mower.
There was no sign of the mother so we just left them there in hopes the mother would return.
The next morning we went out into the yard to check of them. Again we saw no sign the mother had been there so we called the vet to see what could be done.
Needless to say we now have sorta offically adopted 4 baby rabbits. We had to purchace almost $100 worth of stuff from the vet and a department store.
These rabbits are so little. I can hold all four in the palm of one hand. The vet said that we were now the new mothers.:ahhh:
We have to hand feed them with a tiny bottle and nipple. We have them in a hamster cage so our cat can't get them. Feeding times are about every 4-6 hours and thankfully ALL are eating fairly well.
My little girl is in love with them. She is going to have a difficult time when we let them go but it will be a good experience for her. Well I guess it's a good experience for all of us.
So for the next few weeks just call me Momma Spam. ;D
P.S. I'll try to get a couple of pics up for everyone to see.
