- WASHINGTON - Jumping into a volatile election-year debate on same-sex weddings, President Bush (news - web sites) on Tuesday backed a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage — a move he said was needed to stop judges from changing the definition of the "most enduring human institution." story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&u=/ap/20040224/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_gay_marriage_19 - One thing I can say about George Bush is that I truly beleive he is a very moral man, and I for one am not shy in saying, I am glad for these efforts, and just hope they suceed !-

This issue will be a key topic of discussion during the pre-election debates. Where will Sen. Kerry or the other Democratic candidates stand on this issue.

This issue is the very reason I changed my party affiliation to be honest MBH. I had all my life been a Democrat, and still beleive in many things the democrats beleive in, but not when it comes to moral issues. The party has just went so far Left wing, I had to leave. When it comes to moral issues , such as abortion, homosexuality, and others, the democrats are just way off from me anymore, and I am very conservative. I beleive the bible, and although the democrats make more decisions monetarily toward the people, I have to be true to what and how I know the bible says about certain issues, and those issues are more important to me, than anything else.

I don't like George Bush and I probably won't vote for him in November, but I'm glad he's standing up for what's right. The Bible teaches us that homosexuality is wrong, therefore we shouldn't have to have an amendment saying that homosexuality is wrong.

This is the first year that I can vote, and I am voting for George dubya'. This country NEEDS him in office, cuz' he IS moral and prays openly. I will not vote against a man that loves God as I do. We are so blessed to have him as out president. Regardless of how anyone may feel, gay marriage is wrong and should be fought. Slowly, our country is falling apart. I can see it and I'm only 19. It is truly sad how far we've let things go from the way they were. Our foudning fathers would be absolutely sick of the crap we let go on these days! God bless you all

BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO to the previous posters!! ;D
I admire your public stand on the moral issues!
kyblueintenn, I'm hearing more and more voters who have switched their party affiliation because of their respective party's platform of beliefs. Bravo, especially to you, for taken action in supporting Biblical Truths. ;D

:-*I'm sorry guys! Weather you agree or not, Bush doesn't have the power or the clout to pass an Amendment to the constitution! Besides the republicans and democrats are too angree at each other to agree on much! It will never happen!!

I agreed with the president's proposed ammendment, however, it doesn't look like it will succeed. Most of the democrats will certainly oppose it, and many of the republicans (Tom Delay (sp?) the House Majority Leader is one). You need something like 2/3 of the vote of both houses to pass it. However, as the laws on the book stand today the state of Kentucky (for instance) is under no obligation to recognize any marriage that takes place in another state. So if a gay couple gets married in Mass. and moves to KY the state of KY does not have to recognize that marriage.
Kudos to Bush (whom I'm not a personal fan of), but I'm afraid his efforts are in vein. I sympathyze with you guys who are democrats on monetary issues and conservative on moral grounds. I too am one. I wish the democratic party had more individuals (such as Joe Lieberman) who were willing to stand up for morals.

KYKIDD, thank you as well for your understanding of many peoples struggles with these issues. I think this is the right thing to do by the President, but I have to say that I do agree that it will not probably happen. (hope I'm wrong)

I can tell you right now where the Democrates will stand on this issue. When the time comes that they have to take a stand, whatever side of the fence they think will get them the most votes, is the side they will jump too. It's called an election year.

I agree completely, except, I am a Bush supporter, but I like how you can express you opinion without being real derogator about our president. This type of post spurs interest and conversation from most people no matter who they are for.
