My kind of man. I am happy to be in the general class of gun owner. Me to, in my day a gun was a tool, it was something we used to put food on the table we couldn't afford to use ammo just for target shooting, when we went hunting my dad would give me and my brother six .22 shells and he expected us to bring back 1 dead critter for every 2 rounds spent....I still have several guns , but not as many as I used to own.

I don't do that, but I use a light load in my .270. Still kicks a bit but is pretty accurate. Can still get hits at 250 yds and beyond where the others are a little short.

We hunted squirrel and rabbits with a .22, the game warden would not let us shoot doves sitting, but that was the only way to hunt them. You don't get enough meat from a dove to pay for shotgun shells even if you get one with every shot. Squirrels - not much better. Kind of like eating rats. Not much meat, just bones.

Cook a squirrel in a crockpot all day and let it fall off the bones and you got yourself one fine meal. Put some bbq sauce in it and slap it on a couple pcs of bread.
