With Middle Tennessee coming this week, Kentucky football has risen to such dizzying heights there is more discussion about Artose Pinner and Jared Lorenzen and less about Tubby Smith and the roundball roster. More talk about (favorable) turnover ratios and less about fourth quarter fold-ups. UK’s season has been so sunny so far, a sports writer in Knoxville complained that Kentucky should be on television more — Lorenzen is so entertaining. Welcome to Guy Morriss country where he a team that is within a victory of equalling totals the last two seasons combined, and there is gathering talk about a place in the polls. Kentucky was 27th in a poll this week. But sobering is the fact that four opponents still ahead are up ahead in the polls also. Yet, these are heady days for UK football, all things considered. In two of three games now, Morriss’s team has gone against UK history for late game choke, fold or run-out-of-gas at the end. Louisville and Indiana seemed to solve the Cats in fourth quarters, but “here we go again,” didn’t happen.

Guy Morriss has certainly brought a new mindset to the Cats. They now expect to WIN games, where in the past, you could tell that no matter how large a lead they may have had, they just knew they would find a way to lose. I know I am not alone when I say this change in attitude is a most welcome addition to the football Cats! I love seeing them display a little swagger. They deserve it!
