In the span of 19 months, Artose Pinner went from walking into University of Kentucky football coach Guy Morriss' office ready to quit to leading the Southeastern Conference in rushing. Such is the transformation of UK's offense to one that used the run as an afterthought under former coach Hal Mumme to one that uses the run and pass equally. Five minutes after Morriss was hired as UK's coach on Feb. 6, 2001, Pinner came into his office ready to quit. Not only was he a running back on a team that ran little, but he had been banished to the bench by Mumme after fumbling two times in a game at Florida in the 2000 season, even though he had rushed for 125 yards on 17 carries in that game. "I guess a quarterback who throws 22 interceptions isn't labeled, but fumble a couple of times and you're labeled as a fumbler,'' said Pinner.
