McDonald's, battered by criticism of its fatty foods, says it will eliminate Supersize french fries and soft drinks by the end of the year, part of a swing toward pleasing health-minded customers and simplifying its menu. McDonald's Supersize option, which includes a 7-ounce carton of fries and 42-ounce fountain soda, has been targeted by critics as contributing to a growing obesity crisis in the United States where more than half the population is considered overweight or obese. The world's largest fast-food company, which began offering Supersize portions widely in 1994, said on Wednesday it is making the menu changes to "support a balanced lifestyle" approach that is in keeping with other recent moves to promote healthier behaviour. LinkI guess I'll just stick to Steak N Shake and their one gallon bucket of fries. ;D

You know what is leading to growing obesity....People making the CHOICE to eat too much...and people making the CHOICE not to exercise. McDonalds may be offering more food for cheaper...but that is not their fault.
Just the same as the growing problem of obesity in children. Parents are becoming less involved in their childrens lives. It's easier to buy them fast food than to cook a somewhat healthy meal. Also easier to let the TV or video games babysit them, rather than encourage them to go do something outside or physically active.

I am sick of the people of this nation trying to find someone or something else to blame for their problems. Just take responsibility for your own actions and admit that you have the ability to make a choice.

Chris, I agree. How is somebody gonna blame their weight on McDonalds. They made the decision to get the supersized fries, so they should "suffer" the consequences of their weight.

Could be a financial blow to McDonalds. And from what I understand, McDonalds is already not doing very well financially.

I've gained almost 70 lbs in the 6 years I've been married. Mostly because my wife is an A-1 cook and partly because of fast food. So long Super Size... you'll be missed.

Maybe you guys can teach me how to gain some weight. I'm 6'1 and 160 lbs. I need to find a weight room. When I play basketball, I always play center, and I just get pushed around all the time.

Have you tried the weight gaining powder? My brother used it and he gained about 10 or 15 lbs in about a month, then he quit working out and he got fat...

It worked wonders for me. I used to be that 'skinny kid' on the block til I tried the Beer Diet. And I think it works for life too. You don't see the ups and downs like other diet fads. I've since went off the diet but the effects are still apparent. ;D
