No. 1 on Guy Morriss's agenda during his first fall camp last year was to make his team tougher. He put the Wildcats through a series of lengthy and grueling workouts during two-a-days. "Picking up the tempo," was Morriss's description of his new practice style. But the Kentucky coach has a different agenda as the Cats get set for their first workout in pads today. With a thin roster and a quick start being of the utmost importance, Morriss has decided to scale things down. Practices, which ran nearly 21/2 hours last fall, will be closer to two hours. The power running portion of practices will be moderated, and the staff will encourage making contact and wrapping up ball carriers without actually bringing people down to the ground. "We've got to make sure we stay healthy," Morriss said. "I've said this a million times: We don't play the University of Kentucky. We need to take care of our guys."
