While he was in Lexington to compete in the state track meet, Dallas Greer went to the University of Kentucky football office. The Wildcats had expressed interest in Greer, a 185-pound quarterback-safety at Bell County, and he wanted to talk to defensive coordinator John Goodner and defensive backs coach Larry Hoefer. "They told me it was tough to offer (a scholarship) before they got to see me play," said Greer. "That motivated me. I felt they had some doubts about my ability. They weren’t speaking down to me, just being honest. But I went to camp at UK determined to show what I could do." He was so impressive at UK’s camp last month that he was offered a scholarship about a week later. Monday he decided to accept the offer and became the first in-state player to verbally commit to UK’s 2003 recruiting class.
